• How do cats sense the world?

• Why are their form of seeing and sensing the world different from human beings?

The features of creation in cats’ eyes are one of the evidences of the perfection in Almighty Allah’s creation. Our Lord created cats’ eyes with the control and coordination features compatible with the needs of these beings. In one verse, the perfection in Allah’s creation is told as such:

“He is Allah – the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of Form. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies Him.He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.” (Surat al-Hashr, 24)

Cats’ Night Vision Is Very Strong

Cats can easily distinguish colors like green, blue and red. However, the actual superiority of their eyes is that they are created for night vision. Cats’ eyelids open up at nights; so in environments of low light, the colored layer of the eye called the iris makes the pupil larger (covering more than almost 90% of the eye) and allows more light to come in. In environments with high levels of light, this system works in the opposite way to protect the retina, the pupil narrows and turns into a thin line.

There is a layer that does not exist in humans. This layer just behind the retiana reflects the light. Since the light that falls on this layer is reflected back, light passes two times through the retina. Therefore, cats can easily see in low light, and even in dark environments the human eye cannot see in. The reason that cats’ eyes shine under light in the dark is this layer. This layer is made up of tapetum lucidum crystals that reflect light. Thanks to these crystals, the light that falls on the back of the eye is reflected back to the retina. Some of the reflected light turns back from the lens, and causes the eyes to shine at night. Thanks to this structure, the amount of light the eye can see in the dark is increased, and more precisely, available light is better used. Therefore, cats have better vision in the dark. This is not a form of bio-luminescence, because the light is not produced by the animal, but is a result of light being reflected back.

Another reason that cats can see well in the dark is that there are more rod cells than cone cells in their retinas. As it is known, rod cells are sensitive to light only. They form a black or white image depending on the light that comes from objects, but they are sensitive enough to work even with little light.

Thanks to these special rod cells, all cats can easily hunt at night. As it is seen, Allah created the most appropriate eye structure for their living conditions and nutritional needs. Cats’ eyes have markedly different structures and characteristics in line with their own needs. This is one of the unique examples of Allah’s art of creation. Our Lord’s unique science of creation is revealed in one verse as such:

“The Originator of the heavens and earth. When He decides on something, He just says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is. (Surat al-Baqara, 117)

Cats’ Visual Field Is Very Wide

In addition to cats’ perfect vision at night, their visual field is also much wider than that of humans. Whereas mans' visual field is limited to 160 degrees, cats can easily see up to 187 degrees. With these characteristics, they can easily detect threats. This characteristic of the eye is another example of Allah’s art and manifestation on beings in different ways. As it is told in the Qur'an, these creation characteristics are a form of example (lesson) for believers:

“There is instruction for you in cattle...” (Surat an-Nahl, 66)

Cats’ Eye Structure Is Different Than Men

In cats’ eyes, there is a third eyelid called the “nictitating membrane.” This membrane is transparent, and moves from one side of the eye to the other. As such, cats can blink their eyes without completely closing them. This third eyelid prevents the cat’s eye from being harmed while hunting. Moreover, it ensures materials such as dust and such keep away from the surface of the eye and that the eye stays moist; this is because cats do not constantly blink their eyes like humans. If cats blinked their eyes all the time to keep their eyes moist like humans, this would cause a great hardship for them while hunting. Not blinking their eyes is a perfect advantage Allah created for these beings.

Cats’ Eyes Are Sensitive To Movements

Cats cannot see close-range as clearly as people do and cannot focus on objects close to them. But our Lord granted sensory hairs with a very strong sensory mechanism to these beings. Cats can easily detect close-range thanks to their sense of smell and sensory hairs. Even though these beautiful beings cannot see close-range, they can very clearly sense distances between two and six meters. This distance is enough for them to be highly efficient hunters.

Another characteristic of cats’ eyes is that they are created sensitive to movement, are panoramic, and in accordance with long-distance visual acuity . Cat’s eyes and brains separate every movement, and everything moving frame by frame. Its brain can also sense more images than ours. For example, they can easily see electronic signs that we cannot detect on a television screen. This is a special talent Almighty Allah granted to all felines. This is because the essence of cats catching their prey is based on the principle of easily distinguishing moving objects.

The Detail and Variety Almighty Allah Created In Cats’ Eyes Is Flawless

Cats’ eyes are created with superior characteristics just like the eyes of all other beings. When the structure and characteristics of the eye are examined individually, it is seen that these eyes with different functions are one of the best examples of Allah’s art of variety. This variety cannot be explained by claims like mutation or natural selection. Almighty Allah granted the most suitable eye type according to the living conditions and nutritional needs of these living beings.

Acquiring knowledge about the amazing system created in the eyes of these beings is an opportunity for a person to see the power and knowledge of Allah Who created him and to appreciate His omniscience. What falls on a person after seeing this truth is to thank Almighty Allah, Who created the entire universe and to behave in the way that will please Him. Our Lord defines those who refuse His verses as “cruel” in one verse:

“Who could do greater wrong than someone who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord and then turns away from them, forgetting all that he has done before?…” (Surat al-Kahf, 57)

Cats are created in the most ideal way for their environments. They need to breathe, eat, hunt and defend themselves to stay alive. Therefore, they must see the world around them and distinguish their prey and their foes. Thus, they need very specialized eyesight to see their environment clearly. However, Almighty Allah, Who is the Lord of all worlds, granted flawless characteristics like special eye structures, shapes and visual sharpness to these beings. Our Lord’s creation of special eyes for cats is a source of lesson for believers as revealed in the Qur'an:

“And there is certainly a lesson for you in your livestock....” (Surat al-Muminun, 21)

The characteristics of cats’ eyes function with the laws defined by our Lord. Allah created these eyes and every detail they possess without any prior example. It is revealed in the verses that our Lord is the Creator of all things:

“Allah created every animal from water. Some of them go on their bellies, some of them on two legs, and some on four. Allah creates whatever He wills. Allah has power over all things.” (Surat an-Nur, 45)

The First Female Convert to Islam: Our mother Hazrat Khadija

Our mother Hazrat Khadija (ra), the first wife of our beloved Prophet (saas), was at the same time the first female Muslim.

Our worthy mother made great efforts to assist the spread of Islam through her intellect, foresight and wisdom.

With her submission, courage and devotion, our mother Hazrat Khadija (ra), one of our Prophet’s (saas) greatest supporters, was a role model for all Muslims.

Our Prophet (saas) first told Hazrat Khadija (ra) of the revelation that came to him; and she, with her intelligence and foresight, her unquestioning obedience to and trust in our Prophet (saas), realized that he had been especially chosen by Allah and believed him straight away . When the prophethood was bestowed upon him, Hazrat Khadija (ra) said"I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah" and converted to Islam.

Hazrat Khadija (ra) was from the Quraysh, one of the leading Arab tribes, and her family shared the same line of descent as our Prophet (saas). And although she was subjected to many tests reflecting the moral values of the ignorant Arab society in which she lived, she always exhibited a most powerful and determined character in the face of all adversities.

· According to accounts, Hazrat Khadija (ra) died three years before the hegira (19 April, 620 A.D.) and lived at a time when Islam had not yet become strong and achieved dominion. Despite the difficult conditions of the time, and all the persecution by the pagans of Mecca, she maintained her unquestioning submission to Allah and our Prophet (saas).

· At a time when there were quite literally only three Muslims in the world, Hazrat Khadija (ra) would sometimes worship around the Kaaba with the Messenger of Allah (saas) and Hazrat Ali (ra), and sometimes at home.

· When the pagans of Mecca besieged the Muslims at Shi'bu Abi Talib, Hazrat Khadija (ra) withstood the siege alongside our Prophet (saas) with tremendous courage, fortitude and heroism.

· The immaculate line of our Prophet (saas), that will continue until the Day of Reckoning, is descended from our mother Hazrat Khadija (ra). With the exception of Hazrat Maria (ra), whose son Abraham died subsequently, our Prophet (saas) had no children with any of his other precious wives.

· Our Prophet (saas) had six children with our mother Hazrat Khadija (ra). The first of these was Hazrat Fatima, who would continue the line, from whom Hazrat Hassan and Hazrat Husseinm whose lines will also continue until the Day of Reckoning, were born.

· Our mother Hazrat Khadija (ra) was a wealthy person engaged in business; but after becoming a Muslim, instead of seeking worldly advantages, she happily used everything she had acquired in order to earn the approval of Allah and was a role model in terms of spending her fortune for the sake of Islam.

· Hazrat Khadija’s (ra) purity and chastity were renowned even before her conversion to Islam, for which reason she was known as "Tâhire" (the spotless and immaculate woman).

The Flat Sea Urchin: The Sea Creature That Defies the Ocean's Mighty Waves

One of the primary features of the waves that form in the oceans is that everything they drag away from the shore is eventually returned to the shore by another wave, and this process continues wave after wave. That is why it is impossible for human beings to swim in these giant waves or even stand upright when they strike the shore. A certain resistance is essential in order to resist this effect of waves. Flat sea urchins, a species of sea urchins living in the oceans, are one of those life forms with this glorious resistance to the push and pull power of waves. Flat sea urchins have been perfectly created in such a way as to overcome the lifting effect caused by pressure differences and to neutralize the drag force set up by powerful currents.

Almighty Allah has created sea urchins in different shapes and sizes. Sea urchins are generally spherical, but some are flat, long and thin. This is an example of the enormous variety of Almighty Allah’s creative artistry. Sand dollars, a type of sea urchin that live along the ocean shores in Western India and Northwest America are flat, resembling metal coins in appearance, and cover wide areas of the sea bed. Their most significant feature is the amazing resistance they exhibit to the giant ocean waves and currents on the sea floor. Some of these creatures bury themselves two to ten millimeters down, or even at depths of twenty to thirty millimeters in the area where the ocean waves break. In areas exposed to intense ocean currents, they bury one-third of their bodies in the sand and reduce the effect of the current by lying parallel to it. It is, of course, impossible for a tiny sea urchin to know that reducing the effect of current by lying parallel to it, just like surfers do, or burying themselves in the sand will strengthen their positions. Sea urchins have no intelligence or abilities, and it is Allah Who inspires them to act in the way they do. However, this is by no means the end of sea urchins’ characteristics that make them resistant to the ocean waves. Our Lord has created a great many details, the products of His omniscience, for sea urchins to display their resistance to waves.

Sea Urchins Have Been Created in a Wave-Resistant Shape

Allah, Lord of the Worlds, has created important characteristics inside the sea urchin’s body:

1.Their Bodies Are Designed to Prevent Them From Being Dragged Along In The Ocean Waves: Allah has created sea urchins to be flat and slightly domed in the middle, in order to prevent them being dragged along.

2.Their Body Shapes Balance the Lift Force of the Water: Our Lord has created sea urchins with a natural weight belt that balances out the lift force of the water.

3.They Eliminate Pressure Differences: The pressure on the lower surface of these animals is greater than that on the top surface. This sets up a force making it difficult for the sea urchin to cling on to its position. In order to balance out that pressure, Allah has created small channels on the lower surface of the sea urchin’s body. These eliminate the lift force of water by channeling it through them.

4.They Possess a Structural Feature That Allows Them to Increase Their Weight With Materials They Collect From Their Surroundings: Another way of eliminating the effect of lift forces is to be heavy. Since young sea urchins are lighter, they could easily be dragged away. But in order to increase their weight they collect and store grains of sand. As well as these items, they also collect heavy magnetite particles on the sea bed. In addition, as they grow, calcite develops between their upper and lower surfaces. This substance permits tensions on the upper surfaces to be transmitted to the lower, and also serves as a weight. These living things cannot, of course, calculate that collecting grains of sand will increase their weight, or know to select magnetite particles from among the grains of sand on the basis that these are heavier, nor do they know to accumulate calcite between the upper and lower parts of their bodies all using their own intelligence and will. It is our Almighty Lord who teaches them these details so they can resist the ocean currents. We are told in one verse that:

“Allah will give security those who had faith in their victorious Safe Haven. No evil will touch them and they will know no sorrow.

Allah is the Creator of everything and He is Guardian over everything.

The keys of the heavens and earth belong to Him. It is those who reject Allah’s Signs who are the losers.” (Surat az-Zumar, 61-63)

5. Short Spines On Their Bodies Allow Them To Resist the Current:Sea urchins are covered by spines, some two or three millimeters long, which have exceedingly functional properties. Longer spines on their peripheries clear their path, while the spines on the lower part of their bodies enable them to move by clearing sand out of their way.

6. Sea Urchins’ Sharp, Tooth-Like Structures Allow Them To Cling To Hard Surfaces On The Sea Bed: These creatures tooth-like structures possess a very hard and natural filling material. When this structure, made up of calcite crystal layers, is broken and loses sharpness, a new crystalline structure emerges from beneath it.

Sea Urchins Are Manifestations Of Almighty Allah’s Title Of Bedi (He Who Creates without Previous Models)

Our Lord has bestowed many abilities on sea urchins in order to allow them to move with ease beneath the sea, protect themselves and resist the powerful ocean waves. Through the inspiration of Almighty Allah, this tiny living thing is able to resist giant waves that human beings find it impossible to swim or even stand up in, and are even able to take precautionary measures to allow them to do so.

The features of sea urchins are signs of Allah’s Omniscience. Allah has created all things, those we can see around us and those we cannot, using no previous models in doing so. A flawless system made up of atoms, molecules, cells, living things, planets, stars and galaxies came into being through Allah telling it to, “Be!” at a time when there was no universe, galaxies, planets, living things or even so much as a single cell. Everything, from the micro-world human beings only discovered thousands of years later, to the heavenly bodies they discovered in the 20th Century are all systems created by Allah and are subject to the laws determined by Him. Allah created the universe when no such model existed, along with sea urchins and all the other details within it. Verses reveal how Allah is the creator of all things:

All the living things on Earth are equipped with countless superior features, from the way they reproduce, to how they protect themselves and the way they feed. However, like all other living things, sea urchins are devoid of the intelligence and consciousness with which to do all these things.

The characteristics and systems possessed by sea urchins are evident proof of a sublime mind and intelligence. This intelligence and perfect harmony displayed in all of nature belong to Allah, the creator of all. Allah reveals His immaculate creation in this verse from the Qur’an:

“the Originator of the heavens and earth. When He decides on something, He just says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.” (Surat al-Baqara, 117)

The Details in the Sea Urchin Spines

Sharp spines cover the sea urchin’s protective shell. These spines move when the muscles contract, and may be short and thin, or long and pointed. In general, sea urchin spines are one to two centimeters long and one to two millimeters thick. These spines are not very sharp. Some species have spines that may reach ten to twenty centimeters in length. Sea urchins make use of them to feed, protect themselves and move.

Spines That Assist with Movement: There are claw-like structures between the spines that assist with clinging to the sea floor. Allah has created long tubes with suckers at their tips that protrude from the ends of the spines. These work like feet in clinging to the floor. When the sea urchin is in motion, these feet grow longer or shorter as the pressure in the water channels changes. The spines are made to move by means of muscle contraction.

Spines That Are an Important Part of the Defense System: There are two spines on the upper surface of the sea urchin. These are rod-like in shape, with round ends. These round tips prevent grains of sand alighting on the sea urchin, just like a piece of netting. Other spines resemble grains of corn, and these prevent even smaller sand particles accumulating. Because if sand accumulates between these spines, it will be harder for the organelles to function and this will harm the sea urchin.

Despite the presence of these spines in the form of rods and grains of corn, sand particles and organic matter may still slip through between the spines. But strips of cilia bands on the spines set up tiny currents and thus permit these to be cleaned off. Again, in the event of very minute organisms adhering to the spines or accumulating in cavities at the base of the spines, then tiny, mobile pincers that can easily reach each spine clean away all the waste and sand particles. Allah has also created tiny poison sacs in some of these pincers. In this way, Our Lord protects sea urchins from all dangers by the manifestation of His title of Hafiz (He who protects, watches over and preserves).

Spines That Serve to Find Food: The way sea urchins feed is particularly interesting. Some 150,000 out of one million tube feet look for food. Suckers on the ends of these tiny, tube-like feet trap sand particles and single-celled organisms. Food is passed from one foot to another and eventually to the mouth, where some 5,000 sharp teeth tear it apart.

The single-celled organisms that represent a high-energy food source are diatoms. But when they cannot find diatoms, they feed on the fine organic layers on grains of sand. It is, of course, impossible for sea urchins to work out for themselves that there is a thin organic layer on grains of sand. It is Allah, the Rezzak (He who bestows food and blessings) who inspires them to behave in this way. One verse says:

“There is no creature on the earth which is not dependent upon Allah for its provision. He knows where it lives and where it dies. They are all in a Clear Book.” (Surah Hud, 6)

There is a special tissue in the alligator’s skin. The substance that gives strength to this tissue is the collagen protein fibers used inside. The specialty of these fibers is that they enter inside the tissues and strengthen its structure. There is no doubt that this substance (collagen) did not acquire so much detail and characteristics through respective coincidences over long years as is claimed by evolutionists. On the contrary, when it first came into existence on Earth, it was created together with its perfect features by Allah.

The smallest object in the solar system: Pluto

Pluto, which was considered as a planet until last year, is at the farthest reaches of the Solar System.
This small celestial body is a very “cold” place, with a nominal temperature of -238^oC. Inside this freezing coldness, Pluto has a very thin atmosphere. However, the atmosphere is in a gaseous form only during those times when its elliptical orbit carries it close to the Sun. At other times, the atmosphere turns into an ice mass. In short, Pluto is a dead mass of ice.
The diameter of Pluto is 2,300 kilometers.
One year in Pluton, which is 6.0 billion kilometers away from the Sun, equals to 248 Earth years.
Its size is 1/6 of our Moon. Its density is twice that of water. It is the orb with the most elliptical angle of orbit . Therefore, it was closer to the Sun than Neptune was between the years 1978 and 2000.
Its only known satellite remained as Charon for a long time. Charon always shows the same face to Pluto, just like the Moon does to Earth. In 2005, it was found that Pluto had two more satellites, these satellites were named as Hydra and Nix in the year 2006.

Attempting to Imitate insects' piloting abilities

It is not yet completely understood how flying insects adjust their flight altitudes and how they control their take offs and landings. Scientists aim to provide clues about how insects adjust the most appropriate distance from the ground during flight in their research. Researchers are currently studying the movement abilities of specially designed flying robots for this purpose. The French Scientific Research National Center is only one of the many centers involved in carrying out this study.

Important Plane Companies Research Small Insects

Flying insects have more advanced flying techniques than planes in many respects. They can tumble in the air, hover in one location for a long time and make sudden movements. They can automatically make the necessary adjustments according to variables like the wind and land on the ground with dramatic suddenness. Planes on the other hand do not have such sharp maneuvering abilities.

All of these perfect characteristics flying insects possess has had an influence on many researchers. Even though scientific experience and techniques are very advanced today, even the most current technology is still limited in understanding the secret of the flying techniques of insects; indeed the technology humanity has is still very far away from being able to apply the flight abilities of these insects to the real world. Boeing and Airbus, companies that are among the leaders in aviation technology, as well as NASA and the US Air Force devote significant financial resources to research insect flight’ characteristics in order to advance the technology they use.

High Technological System in Insects

While insects are flying, the image of the ground beneath them flows backwards to its own field of vision depending on the insect’s height from the ground and its speed with respect to the surface. As the insect rises above the ground, the surface below seems to be moving slower (from the insects point-of-view). This image flow is known as “optical flow.” The driver who steps on the brakes stops his car according to this principle. Long distance jumpers also determine their take off according to this principle. This adjustment, made by conscious human beings using their minds, is also made by flying insects and birds. Flies and gannets make such an adjustment when they land on objects or dive under water, respectively speaking. They decrease their speed as they get closer to the landing spot. The ratio between the size of the image of the landing point on the retina and the size of the object increases as the flying creature gets closer to the landing point. When this ratio exceeds a certain value, the creature stops by “stepping on the brakes”. Hence, all flying insects and birds use the principle of “optical flow” during their take offs and landings.

With this important information, it is understood how insects adjust their relative positions depending on the location, but it is still not known how this information is interpreted by the insect and how it prevents it from crashing during flight.

Researchers think that insects have a “repeating” image system that provides image information about the past as a result of the latest research they have conducted. They named this system as “optical flow modifier.” Insects determine the ratio of height to ground speed by controlling their vertical elevation with this system. In order to test this system, researchers designed a micro helicopter that has the appearance of a fly. The control parts of this helicopter are based on the idea of an optical flow modifier. It has been observed that the robot is actually able to fly like a housefly in an impressive way. The robot was also very successful in take off, straight flight and landing.

The new findings serve to enlighten many points that were not previously explainable before about insects’ flight. With this research, it was also understood that insects descend with the wind blowing from the front, and rise with the wind blowing from the back. Important Questions To Be Asked

This research was conducted by Nicolas Franceschini, Franck Ruffier and Julien Serres from the French Scientific Research National Center together with the Marseille Mediterranean University. In addition, this research is being supported by the European Union. There are some important questions that need to be asked here:

How can it be explained that insects with no intelligence and consciousness fly and land according to the optical flow principle?
Who teaches this principle to living things?
How is it possible that insects can remember images of the past?
Who makes the adjustments to this memory process, which scientists name as “optical flow modifier”?
How do a handful of cells, which are called the brain of insects, manage to behave according to the so-called principles of physics?

Evolutionist scientists are not able to give satisfactory answers to any of these questions. The only answer to these questions is that Almighty Allah is the One Who creates every being on the ground and in the sky, and determines their characteristics. Dr. Russell Brinkworth from the Biomimicry Image Laboratory in the University of Adelaide comments about the sight abilities of insects, which are clear evidences of Allah’s existence, as follows:

“When it comes to sight, even a small insect brain is superior to all of the artificial sight systems of today.”(Atlas August, edition 173)

English biologist J. Robin Wootton summarizes the superior features in the fly, which is one of the insects scientists like to examine the most, and the evolutionists’ dilemma about this, as follows:

“There is no other technological structure that can compete with fly wings.” (Robert G. Cook, Avian Visual Cognition, Department of Psychology Tufts University, Comparative Cognition Press, September 2001)

When the situation is like this, it is an offense to logic to claim that insects have come into existence by a series of coincidences. There is only one clear truth and that is; the flight techniques of insects that people try to understand by using advanced technologies are one of the clear evidences of creation.

Miracles Seen in Insects

Every characteristic that insects possess is a miracle. Divers of deepest seas: Beaked whales

Scientists have discovered that beaked whales, a species of cetaceans which we know little about and are the current subjects of a variety of researches, are making deeper and more prolonged dives than any other air breathing species. The fact which draws the most attention of scientists is the beaked whales never suffer from decompression during their deep dives in their search for food. The created features of these whales which renders them immune to decompression sickness has become an important subject of research in the scientific world.

The Biggest hazard during deep dives: Decompression sickness

The most significant danger facing divers of the sea is getting decompression sickness because the human bodies' respiratory and circulatory systems are created in accordance with a life on the land, as was ordained for us by Almighty Allah. According to the measure determined by our Lord, the ideal air pressure for human life is called "One Atmosphere" at sea level; this is calculated at approximately 1.03 kg/cm². However, in the seas and oceans when going deeper this pressure increases one atmosphere for every ten meters. For example, water pressure at a depth of 30 meters is three atmospheres; therefore the pressure of water on every square centimeter of the divers body is three times more than at the surface.

When a human dives to 30 meters deep without using any accessories:

* Lung capacity decreases to one quarter.

* Blood pressure rises.

* The heart rate increases while body temperature falls.

* Consciousness is negatively affected.

Because of this reason, diving to a depth of 30 meters without using auxiliary equipment is dangerous. Beaked whales nonetheless make repeated dives to depths of 30-80 meters. Normally they should suffer from decompression during these dives because they are using their lungs for breathing. However there is no risk for these creatures and they can dive up to a depth of 1900 meters for as long as 85 minute periods. 1900 meter is the deepest and longest dive ever observed amongst air breathing mammals.

Beaked Whales have the knowledge of divers.

Beaked whales swim very slowly towards the sea surface for breathing after their record dives and don't make any sudden or rapid upward movements. So what is the reason behind these creatures slow ascent towards the surface? There is only one reason for the whales to behave like this; protection from decompression, as the primary cause for decompression sickness is too rapid an ascent after deep diving.

Why is ascending slowly from a deep dive is a must ?

Nitrogen gas (Nitrogen - N2) which exits in the atmosphere in the highest proportion (78 %) liquifies under pressure and depending on time, mixes with the bloodstream when inhaled. This gas is not usable like oxygen. Time is needed after a dive for the elimination of this gas through re-breathing. In deep levels, gases such as oxygen and nitrogen in the air inhaled from the scuba tanks disperses to tissues in small volumes because of high external pressure. These gases rapidly expand because of pressure reduction if the diver ascends rapidly. Because of this reason divers ascend towards the surface slowly (10 m / min. speed- the last part of ascent at 10 to 6 m / min.)

Features of Beaked Whales which prevents decompression.

The lungs of the beaked whales are created suitably for the pressures in the depths of sea. Gases like oxygen and nitrogen in the air, which the whale inhales before the start of the dive, disperse to the tissues in small volumes during deep dives but when the whale ascends, these gases expand in the blood vessels rapidly. At this time, the lungs of the whale shrink and prevent the gases, especially nitrogen gas, from mix into the bloodstream and thus eliminate the risk of decompression. This feature of their lungs is, without a doubt a proof of Almighty Allah's creation. Therefore, Almighty Allah's power of creation and art of creation is revealed in one of the verses of Quran.

"He is Allah — the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of Form. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies Him. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise." (Surat al-Hashr, 24)

How does the human body react when ascending too rapidly?

* Nitrogen, which resides in the blood of the diver in liquid form, turns into a gaseous form because of the rapid pressure change. This is like the foaming of soda when a shaken bottle of soda is suddenly opened.

* Nitrogen molecules turned into gas come together and cause blockages in the joints, blood vessels and vital organs like the heart and brain.

* Blockages appearing in the body can result in pain, atherosclerosis, lung rupture and stroke which can cause death according to the severity of the illness.

Because of all these reasons, divers get a very broad education about basic diving rules and precautions against the dangers of decompression. Beaked whales did not get any training about what to do against decompression, but they literally "know" they can suffer from decompression f they make a fast exit from the water. Without a doubt it is impossible that a creature which has no reason and consciousness can take preventive measures against decompression sickness by itself. The One Who inspires this creature to take precautions is our Lord, Almighty Allah. Almighty Allah reveals in Surat al Jatiyah that miraculous features of the living beings should be reflected upon like this :

"In your own creation and all the creatures He has spread about, there are signs for people of sure faith" (Surat al-Jatiyah, 4)

Beaked Whales undermine Darwin's claims.

The extraordinary dives of the beaked whales, their knowledge of how to prevent decompression sickness like a trained diver and the special system of its lungs cannot be explained with the words of Darwin: (“I do not see any difficulty in a bear type gaining suitable features to live more in water by the way of natural selection and having bigger mouths by the time and lastly transforming into a giant whale”) (Loren Eiseley, The Immense Journey, Vintage Books, 1958, p.186)

No diver can imprint his experiences about diving to his genes and thereby provide his child this knowledge at the moment of birth. He needs to teach the child this information. However, the offspring of beaked whales have all the necessary information related to diving at the moment of their birth because these creatures did not learn this knowledge as a result of the so-called “evolutionary process”. It is true that mutations (which have invariably harmful results) cannot transform a bear into a whale, much less an expert diver. It is simply impossible that beaked whales descended from another creature as Darwin claims, because beaked whales were created by Almighty Allah with these features already present and have continued their existence unchanged from the time they first appeared with the inspiration of Almighty Allah.

The hummingbirds which remember where they took their nectar

The hummingbirds’ heart beats approximately 1,000 times per minute normally, while during heavy activity, it beats 1,200 times per minute. Because of their extremely high metabolisms, these birds consume an extraordinary amount of energy, they were created with special feeding methods by which they supply themselves with this energy.

The hummingbirds’ primary nutrition source is the nectar of flowers. While feeding, they stand in place, quite differently from other birds. Clapping their airfoils at least sixty times per second in a figure-eight configuration, they hover in the air and they take in nectar from the flower without moving their bodies.

Professor Andrew Hurley, who conducts studies as a life sciences behavioral ecologist at Canada's Letbridge University and has done extensive research on hummingbirds discovered a very important property necessary for this beings' survival. His study was published in the magazine” Journal of Current Biology”.

“'A hummingbird can compensate for the energy which it consumes very fast in the same way. Its alimentation time... in close relationship has great importance in this success. While feeding, it is very important not to lose time and energy by tending to flowers without nectar.'”

Allah has created a miraculous specialty for hummingbirds’ vital needs. These tiny birds, which in some cases are little bigger than a finger tip remember when and from which flowers they took nectar. English and Canadian scientists arrived at this conclusion by analyzing three male hummingbirds alimentation time from eight artificial flowers in Canada’s Rocheuses Mountains. Nectar was pulled from eight artificial flowers by the hummingbirds under observation, followed by a ten minute break, and nectar was pulled from the other four artificial flowers followed by a twenty minute break. It was observed that the hummingbirds which had pulled nectar followed by a ten minute break returned ten minutes later and those who had pulled nectar followed by a twenty minute break returned twenty minutes later.

These beings, which are bound to take nourishment in order to obviate their high energy requirements, do so without spending unnecessary time and effort by means of their excellent memory which Allah bestowed upon them as a great blessing. Although they take nectar from hundreds of flowers, they remember which flowers they visited and they do not burden the same flower again. After an interval of time later, the flowers refresh their nectar. It is very important for hummingbirds not to lose time by visiting dried flowers. It is more efficient to remember which flowers which have more nectar than other flowers.

Prof. Hurley determined that hummingbirds learn how long it takes for the flowers to replenish their nectar, and thus never go back to a dried flower. His research brought to light that these birds have the ability to remember the replenishment timing of at least eight flowers. Prof. Hurley, who encountered this remarkable memory performance of the hummingbird, decided to conduct a similar research among his class students. As a result of this research he commented that “Instead of nectar, I gave them sugar. Although my students’ brains are 7, 000 times bigger in comparison to a hummingbird, they could not duplicate the same performance as this small bird and they had difficulty in remembering the minutes of giving sugar. It should not be forgotten that the hummingbird which is being spoken of here weighs only three grams, and it its brain is about 7,000 times smaller than that of a human being.

This tiny bird which weighs only three grams, and has a brain 7,000 times smaller than that of a human being, is nonetheless capable of remembering the nectar replenishment times of about to eight different flowers; how can this tiny creature remember something which has been demonstrated to cause difficulties for adult humans? Evolutionists cannot answer these kinds of questions with claims of “mutations”.

After all, is a bird capable of the conscious recognition that it will die if it uses its energy in a fruitless search for food in order to sustain its high metabolism? And can it then decide to improve its memory as a necessary solution to its problem? How does this tiny bird know exactly how long it takes for a flower to refill its supply of nectar, and furthermore, how does it know exactly which flower to return to and remember its flight pattern back to that flower? How does it differentiate between the different flowers?

The evolutionists, who claim that life arose due to circumstance and mutation, cannot answer these questions. The only answer to these questions is that the hummingbird acts with the inspiration provided to it by our Lord, Almighty Allah, Who created all things flawlessly. It is Allah Who created the hummingbird, and the hummingbird acts with His inspiration in order to live; Allah has created all the conditions for all living things by which they may not only continue to survive, but thrive. It is Allah Who gave to the hummingbird the ability to remember when and to which flowers it should return to, and it is our Almighty Lord Who alone possesses the infinite power to create all things in their perfection. Allah gives life to all things, and sustains all things, from the universe itself, to all the human beings who have ever lived or will live until the Day of Judgment, from the plants, to the tiny hummingbird, in which we can surely see a Sign of His omniscience and omnipotence.

Allah declared in the Qur'an that:

“There is no living creature on Earth that does not receive sustenance from Allah. He knows its dwelling and resting place. Everything is recorded in a manifest Book.” (Surah Hud, 6)

Allah inspires the hummingbirds as to how, when, and from where it will take its sustenance. He creates all the living beings who are on the Earth and in the sky in each moment. Every breath is taken by His permission. He knows every vital process in every living beings’ bodies because it is He Who Himself created those processes. All the living beings act at the direction and inspiration of Almighty Allah.

“Surely I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord, there is no living creature but He holds it by its forelock; surely my Lord is on the right path.” (Surah Hud, 56)

One of the most interesting features of bats is their incredible sense of direction. This ability of the bats was discovered by scientists through a series of experiments.

Every creature in this world has its unique features. All of these features have a special purpose in the body of these creatures And also make the lives of these creatures easier for them, and thus are very important.

Among all of the animals, bats have a special hearing ability. And many new features of these creatures were also discovered according to new experiments.

In one of the experiments which the scientists made, a bat was in a dark room. After that a fly was placed into the other side of the room, and the movements of the bat were followed by a night vision camera. With the first movements of the fly, the bat goes directly for the fly and begins to hunt it. With this experiment it was recognized that bats have a very special and advanced sensory ability. But where does this great sensory ability come from? Does it come from the hearing ability or from a special kind of night vision system?

In order to find out the answers to these questions, scientists conducted another experiment. This time a caterpillar was placed into the room, and it was covered with a piece of paper. Without a moment’s hesitation, the bat went to the caterpillar, went under the paper and ate the caterpillar. This result shows that the sense of direction of the bat has no relation to its eyesight.

Scientist continued their experiments with bats: a bat was placed on one side of a long hallway and a group of butterflies were placed on the other side. Before this however, walls that divided the hall vertically were built; after that, holes only a bat could pass through were built into every wall. Each of the holes was in the different parts of the hall. In other words, in order for a bat to be able to pass through these walls, it has to do almost a “slalom” race.

When the bat was close to the first wall, it went directly to the hole, and passed through this hole easily. The same behavior was observed in the remaining walls; the bat did not need to look for the hole in the wall, but rather went through it directly. After passing the last wall, the bat ate the butterfly.

In order to further examine the magnificent sensory ability of bats, scientists decided to conduct another experiment about the subject. This time they decided to define the margins of the sensory ability of the bats better. Again a long tunnel was built, and through the tunnel 0.6 millimeter steel cables hung from the ceiling at random. The bat successfully passed through the steel cables, without crashing into any of them, and arrived at the other side of the tunnel. This flight of the bat shows that it can detect the 0.6 mm cables from a distance. Bats emit high frequency sound waves in order to sense the objects around them. These sound waves, which humans cannot hear, are sensed by the bat and so the animal creates a kind of map of the area that it is in. In other words, bats can sense even the tiniest fly in the air, with the help of sound waves that hits the fly, and then comes back to the bat. Bats can find their way with the sonar system by calculating how long it takes for the sound wave to return to them.

According to the Doppler principle, frequency of a sound wave that hits an object changes. Bats calculate the return time of the sound waves according to this law. Most religions see this as a gift of Allah; and according to the Islamic religion, Allah created bats in this way. In the Qu'ran, Allah says:

"Of course there are signs for you in animals, too.” (Surat an-Nahl, 66))

How Do Lobsters Understand The Time of Migration?

In the middle of autumn, the weather conditions where lobsters live are very changeable. Winds increase as a result of high levels of pressure, the sky darkens, it begins to rain and the temperature falls. Meanwhile, the sandbanks where lobsters live become blurred. There takes place movements caused by large waves in shallow areas as a result of winds. This is one of the signs that the time of migration has come for lobsters.

It is not exactly known why lobsters migrate in autumn and how they determine the exact timing. However, with the information currently available, it is thought that environmental factors are the most likely cause. According to conducted research, sudden changes of temperature and more intense water activity may cause a tendency in lobsters to change their locations.

The important point here is that a lobster recognizes the climatic changes of its own environment, understands that these environmental conditions pose a risk for its own life and takes precautions accordingly beforehand. There are certain points that need to be calculated in the precaution previously taken. For example, the lobster needs to know the appropriate environment, where it is in the ocean and how to reach its destination in the fastest way beforehand. After making all these decisions, it has to proceed towards its destination in a very conscious manner. The amazing qualities lobsters have are not limited to these. Let us take a closer look at some of the other methods used by lobsters, which are created with matchless characteristics by our Lord, while migrating:

The Lobsters’ Migration Method That Evokes Admiration

Lobsters’ migrations are generally in the direction of calmer waters. During this journey, we witness very striking images. Every lobster takes up a position to touch the one in front of it, and approximately fifty-sixty lobsters come together and form a convoy. In this way, they walk on the ocean floor for a couple of days and nights. (David Attenborough, The Trials of Life, p.123)

The members of the convoy determine their own positions by touching the tips of their antennae and front legs to the stomach of the lobsters in front of them. This connection is not disrupted even if the lobster’s antenna is removed. The lobster with no antennae begins to touch the lobsters in front of it using the tip of its front legs; if these tips are removed, then the lobster touches the others with the second tips of its front legs. In this way, the line is protected even if the lobsters cannot see anything. While the water movement caused by the lobsters at front probably ensures that the lobsters observing it ensure the connection, there is also a chemical signal that it is following the lobsters..

Why Do Lobsters Migrate In Single File?

Even though it is thought that lobsters decide on migration collectively, it is difficult to explain their traveling in a single file like this. This type of behavior has many benefits for the lobster. Some of these are as follows:

First of all, lobsters that cannot withstand dangers on the way on their own can be saved from becoming prey by moving together because the eyes, antennae and all the other receivers they possess will be used simultaneously to detect and dissuade the enemy.

During their migration, the lobsters are often attacked by fish.. During an attack, the leader turns around itself. Other members that see this understand that there is a danger present and they form a ribbon shape. At the same time, defensive shells form on lobsters. While they would be easy prey under normal conditions, thanks to these precautions, they are protected against enemies.

In addition, the most sensitive parts of lobsters are their stomachs. They are most vulnerable to injury in this area. When there are lined up in a single file, the lobster behind covers their stomach area and protects it. (John Owen, Fantastic Journey, p.109) 

Migration in a single file formation increases lobsters’ ability of movement. There is fifty percent difference between the hydrodynamic force faced when moving in water by itself, and the hydrodynamic force faced when moving behind another member. Thanks to moving in a single file, they move forward further in a much shorter time. It is observed that some species walked at a speed of one kilometer per hour.

How Do They Find the Way Back to the Area They Live In Under Every Condition Without Getting Lost?

Research has shown that lobsters can return to their own regions when they are placed in an unfamiliar terrain.. However, despite all these studies, it is still not understood how they do this, nor the manner in which it is done. The lobster species called panulirus argus was able to return to its own habitat even though it was deprived of all clues of direction, and placed in a region several kilometers away from the place it was caught. An experiment done on this subject yielded striking results. Lobsters caught on the shore were placed inside a covered lightproof container and taken to the experiment field in a truck. In the middle of the journey, magnets were placed inside the container. Some of the magnets were hung with a rope and therefore swung in an unordered way, so that the magnet field in the container were in a state of constant flux. During the second half of the journey, the lobsters were carried in the same container, but without the magnets. Throughout the whole trip, it was ensured that the containers swung freely as the truck moved. In order to further disorient the lobsters, the truck made a series of random maneuvers and circles before it went to the experiment field 37 kilometers away. All the lobsters were taken out of the truck and left overnight inside a tank with a natural magnetic field. When it was morning, the lobsters’ eyes were covered with plastic tape and it was observed how they oriented themselves just like before. It was further observed that there was no difference in orientation ability between the lobsters moved with and without magnetic field exposure. On the contrary, both groups re-oriented to the area in which they were caught without any hesitation. How Have Lobsters Known About And Applied A Method Not Completely Known and Solved Even Today?

There is no doubt that it is impossible for a lobster to think about how to form a single-file formation for traversing long distances, not to mention having an ability to re-orient itself toward its home waters and further having the perseverance to find its own way under every condition. It is also impossible that these migratory behaviors formed through gradual decisions of lobsters. The migration ability of the lobster is a quality which evokes admiration, and which the lobster cannot possess on its own. The mind that thinks and plans all of these, that calculates according to its plans and delivers it to the exact place, is not the lobster’s mind. Almighty Allah Who creates everything and Who knows His every creation also knows everything that lobsters will face throughout their lives beforehand. Our Lord is the One Who bestows them with all the abilities they will need. This is only one of the indicators of Allah’s superior art in creation.

“Allah, there is no god but Him, the Living, the Self-Sustaining. He is not subject to drowsiness or sleep. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them but they cannot grasp any of His knowledge save what He wills. His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the earth and their preservation does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent.” (Surat al-Baqara, 255)

The anti-freeze system that protects penguins from freezing

Under normal circumstances, walking on ice barefoot is extraordinarily difficult for a human. Even if one tries to do so, he will face the imminent danger of freezing after a short while.

Then how come the penguins don’t freeze, although they walk barefoot on ice all their lives?

The emperor penguins, a manifestation of Allah’s Gentle Artistry, and which live in the polar regions, spend most of their lives walking on ice, and foraging for food in the freezing ocean. Yet how is it that penguins live in the poles, which proves impossible for humans when they don’t take special precautions ?

Measures to keep penguins warm

A major part of the penguin bodies are covered with a water-tight fur to keep them from getting cold. A thick fat layer underneath their skin provides additional insulation as well. Indeed, this double-layered protection proves so effective that sometimes penguins can overheat in a sunny day. However All-Mighty Allah created very special measures to prevent penguins from overheating as well. The exposed beaks and the feet of the penguins allow for the loss of heat, helping maintain their body temperature at a constant.

In cold weather, it is our feet and hands that get cold first because the blood is drawn out of the hands and feet and is sent to the vital organs to keep them optimally functioning. Penguins have a similarly miraculous system. By the means of controlled blood flow, the feet of penguins don’t freeze on ice.

The Special System in the Penguin Veins

Certain arteries in penguin's feet can adjust the blood flow according to the temperature in the feet. They can, for example, send enough blood to keep their feet at a temperature that is just a fewer degrees higher than the freezing point. By means of this amazing measure, the penguin's feet don’t freeze.

It is the All-Mighty Allah, Who creates everything in a ‘perfect’ manner, that gave this protective system to penguins and helps them survive in the face of freezing cold. All-Mighty Allah creates all living things with systems suitable for their environment.

“Your god is Allah alone, there is no god but Him. He encompasses all things in His knowledge.” (Surah Ta Ha, 98)
