From Mr. Adnan Oktar's live interview on Dem TV and Tempo TV on December-18, 2009
ADNAN OKTAR: Primary school children are really bright, as clever as a 20-year-old. They are highly intelligent. There is no question of children not grasping something, but unless you provide religious instruction there will be an empty space in their souls, they will regard the world as a nightmare, and a child who thinks his parents will one day die and disappear will become mentally ill. A child who thinks that he himself will one day die and disappear will become mentally ill. But a child who knows he will meet his mother and father in Paradise will be mentally and psychologically fit and healthy. The alternative means devastation. Children sometimes lose their father and that is devastating if you tell that child his father will never be coming back, that he has ceased to exist. It is also devastating for a child if he thinks that he will one day cease to exist. Therefore, when you tell the child that Allah created us, that we will all be together in the Hereafter, in Paradise, and that he will very soon be seeing his father again, then that child’s soul is eased, his love survives and no devastation takes place inside him. Religion is therefore the food of the soul, and also a spiritual healing, a spiritual cure that enables people to be joyful and healthy. Allah has created us in such a way as to be healthy with religion. When religion goes, our health is impaired, the health of society is impaired; just look outside, you will see so many unhappy people. That stems from a lack of sufficient religious instruction.
