ADNAN OKTAR: If they are talking about freedom for our brothers in the Southeast [of Turkey], this is not a privilege but rather a right enjoyed by the whole nation. I mean, this is not a subject to be opened for discussion and wondered about. If we are speaking of their freedom, they should in any case be free. But I cannot think they are talking about anything else.
I think that the AKP [Justice and Development Party] government is sincere in this subject. I mean, why should it want to be taken in by this or for Turkey to be fragmented? What would it gain from that? Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan comes from Anatolia, and is a very inoffensive person. What could he gain from this? He is a man advanced in years? That is not a subject he would draw any material or unearthly pleasure from, so why should he wish the country to be divided? One would think, and what could anyone stand to gain? There is nothing to gain, so I think making such accusations is not right.
But the policy in the Southeast is, of course, wrong. And I do criticize the policy of the government in that regard. That is because there is a communist uprising in the Southeast, a Stalinist uprising.
There needs to be an intellectual struggle against it. Military solutions are no solution at all. The same thing happened in Vietnam. America bombed it from the skies, but got nowhere. You can't get anywhere with bombs, tanks and shells. You need to bombard them with ideas, to rain books down, send documents and information. The television and radio have to set it out. That will paralyze the PKK and put an end to the matter. But there needs to be a very determined policy on the subject, of course.
Our citizens in the Southeast also need love, respect and affection. They come here for instance, may be looking for work, he was born in Mardin so they say "there is no work". That is a grave immorality for instance. I mean it is a very very big depravity and a formidable cruelty. Is he not my brother? Are we not all descended from Adam and Eve? What offense does my immaculate fellow-citizen have? I mean if I were born in Mardin, would I not be able to find work? What does this all mean? Strong precautions need to be taken against such stratagems. For instance such an act should be considered a criminal offense, and such perpetrators should be exposed. It is a disgrace and a violation of good conscience.
The alleged organization Ergenekon committed terrible cruelties in the Southeast. It inflicted unbelievable atrocities on our own citizens and gave them the impression it was the Turkish Army and police doing it. And they thus put them off the state, a large part of them. And they encouraged them to think that there is no way out other than the PKK. This was also a ruse on the part of the alleged organization Ergenekon. That is because it is the alleged organization Ergenekon that set up the PKK. And the fact they are still loyal to the motherland infuriates the alleged organization Ergenekon. They are now beginning to do even worse things. They are trying to impose the logic that they should break away at once or else suffer real harm.
