Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's live interview on March 17th, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: Yes, look now. It says [in the message], "Exhibit that courageous behavior of yours. I repeat that, for the love of Allah, our hearts are burning. For us, the al-Aqsa is as sacred as the Kaaba." For one thing, nobody can do anything to al-Aqsa. Allah will bring the sky down on anyone who would do that. There is no question. By Allah's leave, al-Aqsa will stand until the Judgment Day. That is in the Qur'an. It is entrusted to Allah, insha'Allah, so there can be no question. It says, "I kindly ask." Then, I would like to hear our brave Palestinians say, "O Lord, send us the Mahdi (pbuh)." Is that so hard? "O Lord, let Turkish-Islamic Union have dominion." And that is also in the Qur'an. "Raise us a leader," they say. There is a verse about that.
ADNAN OKTAR: Yes, sure in Surat an-Nisa. Can you find the verse for me? Is that so hard for a Muslim to say? This is so beautiful, "O Lord, give us the Islamic Union. Let the Turkish-Islamic Union be established." And the Turks are so brave and heroic, it is a great force for such a courageous nation to have the leadership. That is a great ease and blessing. They ask why I involve the Turks. For instance, my name is Adnan, and if I am a leader on any matter, then I become the leader. I say the Turkish nation is also a leader, the natural leader. What is surprising about that? What kind of task do you give to an engineer; for instance, to a civil engineer?
ADNAN OKTAR: His job is to draw up projects. And that engineering quality is also a feature of the Turkish nation. It is an engineer when it comes to setting up a world state. It has the training and the school is here, in Turkey. Turkey is the expert in the field. Allah says, "render back your trusts to those to whom they are due" (Surat an-Nisa, 58). According to the verse, let them show me the people who are due, and if there is anyone else, let us follow behind them. But there is not. There is the Turkish nation, a brave and heroic nation. For instance, you saw that our Prime Minister stood up and said a few words. The whole Islamic world got very excited, and that was only a minute sparkle, insha'Allah. But when I say a sparkle, I am talking about watching over and standing up for people, not any other aspect. In other words, that is the protection of Christians, Jews and Muslims altogether. If you only watch over Muslims, there will be a major instability and also shortcoming. Islam teaches compassion for the People of the Book. Protecting and watching over them is vitally important. There can be no religious conception that denies their existence. Our Prophet (saas) had no such policy. The People of the Book lived extremely comfortably.
People ask why I call these people my brothers and friends. According to Sunni belief, and the four schools, Hanafi, Hanbali, Maliqi and Sha'afi, one can marry a woman from the People of the Book. Imagine I have married a woman from the People of the Book and we have come to our home. What will I call her, "You infidel?" Of course, I am going to call her my darling, my wife, my sweetheart, my dear, all nice words. I will call her my friend, ally and all that kind of words. One must address the People of the Book, the same way he addresses one's wife. If you can say nice things to your wife, why can't you say these things to the other? Why not call them friend or brother? Should I call my wife this way, but the other one infidel? Is that at all acceptable? Two are the same and that does not have a special status. But no matter how much I explain this, some people still continue down their own path.
