PRESENTER: "A referendum is to be held in Switzerland on 29 November on the subject of whether minarets should be banned or not. The Swiss minister of state supported minarets prior to the referendum. He only opposed the call to prayer. What do you think of the situation?" Kemal Akpınar, sent that question in from Rize.

ADNAN OKTAR: Nobody can tear down the minarets in people’s minds and hearts. What matters is the minarets in hearts and minds. Minarets of stone can be demolished, and the call to prayer can be silenced, but what matters is the call to prayer in our hearts and souls. Therefore, if our brothers there wish to serve the religion they should tell the people around them of Islam and the Qur’an using good manners and constituting the finest models themselves. Otherwise they will eventually tear those minarets down. That is a feature of the End Times…

That is where Darwinism and materialism are strongest. They are most widespread there. Socialist and communist ideas are widespread there. That is where suicide levels are highest. That is where people are unhappiest. That is where family ties are broken. Old people die in homes where they live on their own. That is where the level is highest. I learned that only recently, when some friends went there. They know when an old person has died when the body starts to decay. That is the way they tell. They realize it a week or 10 days later. They realize an old person has died when a neighbor raises the alarm. They really do not look after the elderly. When people’s parents grow old, their children or grandchildren immediately sever all bonds. They literally hate them. That is something unique to those countries...

That is why one cannot expect people like that, who have become Darwinists and materialists and Marxists, to wish to hear the call to prayer or see minarets constructed. And since they are in the majority, of course they will tear down the minarets and silence the call to prayer. But it will of course be very effective for the people there to preach and speak and to represent good role models in their lives, quality and words… But using ideas, knowledge and scholarship…
