Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's live interview on TV Kayseri dated March 3rd 2010
ADNAN OKTAR:But to apply pressure on people during such a crisis period, to confiscate the properties of those who can't pay, etc. , I do not find these appropriate. I mean if I personally had been involved in such a situation I would not say "go and confiscate these goods" I mean if someone owed me debts. As a matter of fact since people owing us did not pay our receivables my friends are experiencing a financial crisis as well. I mean this is the reason why we are in an economical crisis. It is the fact that people cannot pay their debts to us. But they really cannot pay. I mean we asked the guys, those people really do not have anything. I mean if we were to go and confiscate their properties, my conscience would not let me do that, I can't do such a thing. I mean that guy has a house, are we to take it from his hands. How is it even acceptable? What does it mean to confiscate one's refrigerator, washing machine? What is that man to do? We are left in a difficult position; let it be. I mean we are not going to die of hunger. But I would not leave a person in such an aggrieved position. Or for instance the goods of that man are sold with an auction in dead bargain. I wouldn't buy that with dead bargain. I mean whatever it really costs should be paid. How is such a thing even possible? That person says "I am in a difficulty" for instance that person happens to have a house costing 100 million liras, they instantly say "let us sell it for 50 million". The other one is rubbing his hand "let me buy it right away". That is not acceptable, what kind of a logic is that? You are to pay that man whatever it really costs. There wouldn't be abundance in such a house, that person would be enfolded with a hex, he won't have any blessings and sake. No such thing is acceptable insha'Allah , to go and confiscate the goods and properties of a man. I mean many of my friends are not paid their receivables. We went and researched, that is a fact that those people are not being paid by others either. I mean that is not something done on purpose, that guy has gone bankrupt, he doesn't have anything. Why would we be tyrannizing such a person? What can we say, we can't say anything. As a result of course our activities had been affected to a serious extend, for instance we were distributing books free of charge, now we can't do that. But there is a good in that, it is Allah Who doesn't give us that means. For instance we were using a very wide broadcasting net, we were broadcasted in many stations, now we can't do that. But we do so in the internet for instance Allah had opened us a door there, He had given us a means, and they are very meticulously listening to the internet, they are listening even harder, and their number is increasing every single day masha'Allah, I mean we can't complain about anything. That is because we are being tested, Allah places us in a difficult position as well. I mean we do not have very strong means. If we are not reflecting this to the people around, that doesn't mean that we are very comfortable, right? For instance lots of our friends' houses have been delivered in execution, many of them are in a difficult position, they are in an economical crisis. But all of them are holding their heads up and none of them are complaining or anything. We are praising Allah and thanking Allah because it is Allah Who created this, we only can act on the means we are given, insha'Allah. Because we are to experience such a period, everyone being tested, but not us would not be an option. We also are being tested, that is perfectly reasonable insha'Allah. But to overburden someone in difficulty is not acceptable. There needs to be a conception of fairness. I mean the one with more means should be sparing a part of it for the ones with less means. It is not acceptable to overburden the ones with less means, those should not be expected anything. This is a moral understanding, a beauty, it brings plentitude and abundance. To keep one's properties to oneself brings hex. It causes economical crisis. Spending brings wealth. Once you spend more will come. Allah states in a verse "you distribute it so that I will increase it for you". This is in any case in the root of modern economy. If goods are not spent if Money is not spent, economy would not pick up. A constant consumption is needed and the continuous distribution of Money. Money should be continuously moving, or else it is like the blood freezing in one's veins. The money freezes, goods freeze, economy freezes. That is how economical crisis happen, like a heart attack, a blockage happens. To prevent that blockage there needs to be a circulation, a vivacity. The markets should be buoyant, what is needed to be done for that, money should not be kept it should be spent, it should be distributed to the poor and the ones in need, distributed to the people around, they should go and do shopping so that it will create a vivacity. If you feel afraid and amass it, that would be left there and would not do any good. For instance 100 kilograms of money, if you amass 100 kg of Money, that banknotes would be turned into an ordinary paper weighing 100 kg and it would do no good for you. But if you use that 100 kg, if you distribute it around you, that would bring you by several orders of magnitude and will circulate with functional advantage insha'Allah.
