From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s interview on www.harunyahya.tv on March-4, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: But one has an obligation to listen to the voice of one’s conscience. People misunderstand this. Obligations do not just mean not drinking wine or gambling. It is also unlawful not to heed one’s conscience. One has an obligation to heed one’s conscience. For example, if one forms an opinion about Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and realizes that there will be a movement of the system of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), then one has to abide by that as a consequence of abiding by the Qur’an. It is an obligation because they preach the religion of Allah and disseminate Islam. They spread the Qur’an and strive night and day. There is a community like that. But what do you do? You just go to sleep. People like that spend their time buying a diamond ring to keep their fiancées happy. They occupy themselves with decorating their homes. They don’t like the furniture at home and decide to change it. They organize where to spend their summer holidays. They wonder how they can improve their summer homes. Then they see how the movement is seriously striving to serve Islam and the Qur’an. What does a person say in good conscience? I am wasting my time. One has to decide to join with these people who are serving for Allah’s approval or try and help them or to be like them. I said this only recently, that people think they have only certain specification obligations they have to meet. But the fact is we have an obligation to obey everything our consciences tell us, otherwise the reward is hell if we do not. If a person has striven against his conscience all his life and done the opposite of what it commanded, then he has sinned, and these are the moral values of dwellers of hell.. One must obey one’s conscience. For example, one may hear a kitten crying out. It has caught its foot. One cannot ignore it and say that the Qur’an says nothing about that. That is unlawful. One has an obligation to free it. The animal is suffering there. Is that clear? Or someone is dying from hunger and begs for a slice of bread. One has an obligation to provide it. You cannot tell him to go elsewhere. He has seen you, and you have a responsibility. Because he says he is dying. But if if his cry for help is not ouf of necessity, that is different. Is that clear? I gave an example the other day. There has been a traffic accident and someone’s car has been hit and he is struggling for death there. Everyone who sees has an obligation to help. Anything else is unlawful. The equivalent of murder. He is dying, but if you help him, he will live. The system of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is like that. There is no need for the system of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) to be openly announced. People will realize it through their consciences. For example, the followers of the Messiah (pbuh) will recognize him through the light of faith, through their consciences. They will help him conscientiously. The followers of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will realize who he is through their consciences. Because they heed the voice of their conscience. Those 313 do not follow Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) randomly. They follow Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) because they have an obligation to heed their consciences. The 1400 followers of the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) do not say there he is, let us help him, for no reason. They heed the voice of their conscience. They listen to the voice of their conscience, as an obligation, and do what is necessary. Following the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) is a dangerous business. It is very hard and troublesome. They will have to go without sleep and will suffer hardships and menaces, and some will be martyred. It is hard to be a follower of the Prophet Jesus (pbuh).
