Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's live interview on HarunYahya.TV, March 23rd, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: Hazrat Maryam (pbuh) was as meek as a lamb. There was divine light on her face and hands. She was very pure, our precious mother masha’Allah. She is an example to all kingdoms, and she was created as superior to all women. She is a highly blessed being. You know, she closed down a curtain and committed herself to Allah as she wasn’t after any marriage, finding a husband, cars, houses or what is to come in the future, right? Her only goal was to earn the good pleasure of Allah; she was locked up on it. Allah gave her a very beautiful task and she was perfectly beneficial. But on top of that Allah put yet another test on her. Her pregnancy is a test for example. Of course. But the incident after the pregnancy is even a bigger test. She faced the most indecent defamations and slanders at that time, about sexuality. After all, sexuality is the kind of defamation that people are more curious about and find the most striking. In that period, it has always been used. It has also been used against the Prophets. And also against other holy people. Because people find it very important, see sexuality as vital. So words about it are also vital. Therefore, society is affected by defamations and slanders about sexuality a lot more. As a result, that test is even harder. For example, Prophet Joseph (pbuh) was slandered with the charge of rape. He has been accused of being a person, who has committed a crime of sexuality and adultery, for 7 years. For 7 years, a decent person. For a long period Hazrat Maryam (pbuh) was also accused of committing adultery and of course Prophet Jesus (pbuh) lived in a difficult situation at that time. He was treated like an illegitimate person, an illegitimate child, as it was a very important subject at the time.
