Excerpt From Mr. Adnan Oktar's live interview on HarunYahya.TV, March 18th, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: “When it reached Solomon he said, ‘Would you give me wealth when what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you? No, rather it is you who delight in your gift.” People know that I never accept presents. Never. If I very much have to, I accept only for good. But I definitely give something of higher value in return and I caution that person not to do it again. If it is a valuable present, then I never do accept, like gold or such, it’s impossible. But for example they sometimes bring small presents like a desert or something, I accept not to confound them and because it’s only of small amounts. But I caution carefully and say, “No such thing ever happens again.” But I always give a present in return insha’Allah. Where do we learn this from? We learn it from the Prophet Solomon (pbuh) insha’Allah. Those who communicate religion will avoid getting presents. For those who strive in Allah’s path, there are no presents. It would not be appropriate to get money in return for one’s service, striving in the way of Allah or from one’s books and other works; they will avoid it. And presents are not accepted when brought. Look, the Prophet Solomon (pbuh) says, “What Allah has given me is better than what He has given you?” Allah gives the Muslim the necessary means. If not, Muslim is patient but presents are never accepted. A person who communicates religion will avoid this insha’Allah.
