PRESENTER:“Good evening. What is the evidence that Allah is beyond space? How should we understand the verse, “The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day whose length is fifty thousand years.” Tahsin Tokat, from Hatay.

ADNAN OKTAR:They travel for 50,000 years, at the speed of light for instance, and come to a specific place, and Allah manifests Himself to them there. But the distance they travel in 50,000 years is just this size for another entity. They travel 50,000 light years. When another entity looks at it, that is something very miniscule. Yes. There are therefore no time or space for Allah. Even so that great distance is just the head of a pin for another entity, a journey that will take 50,000 years at the speed of light, and Allah manifests Himself there. For example, Allah manifests Himself to the Prophet Moses (pbuh) in a burning bush. He descended as far as that place of manifestation and Allah said, “You are in the holy valley of Tuwa. Take off your shoes.” Allah manifests Himself there. Had Allah wished, He could have manifested Himself in his house, or the quarter of town he was in. But the manifestation took place when he came there.

In another place he says, “O Lord, I wish to see you.” Allah says He will show His manifestation to the mountain and that the prophet will see him there, if he can bear it. And when He showed His manifestation to the mountain, an event of great intensity took place and the prophet was overwhelmed. Everywhere around was devastated, and the Prophet Moses (pbuh) fainted from the intensity of it. The Prophet Moses (pbuh) was in any case a very excitable prophet. He fainted. He realized he could only see the manifestations of Allah. He was overcome even by His manifestations. But Allah also manifests Himself in human beings, of course. He manifests Himself in plants and everywhere. Therefore, in saying that Allah is unfettered by time and space, Allah is beyond time and space as we know them. In other words, there is something new. There is something new like time and space, for example. And there is another thing beyond that other thing, we don’t know them. For example, Allah says He will provide 70 separate colors in paradise, 70 colors beyond the usual 7. Not just shades or tones, but 70 primary colors like blue or red. Can we imagine a new color? We cannot imagine any other color than the usual 7. Though there may be intermediate colors. But Allah says he will make 70 colors. Seventy. But Allah has the power to make an infinite number of colors, and he just shows 70 of them there. In one verse Allah says “They failed to properly appreciate the power of Allah.” The greatness of Allah is far beyond what most people imagine. He is greater than they can possibly conceive. For that reason, people imagine that time and space are all. Time and space for Allah are only something created for us. He is beyond them, insha’Allah.
