Excerpt from Live Interview with Mr. Adnan Oktar by HarunYahya.TV (May 27th , 2010 )
ADNAN OKTAR: Allah is the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful. The purpose there is to show people their incapabilities. Every man has a weakness, an imperfection. Certainly, some people either do not have a limb or some others’ eyes do not see. Even if all is okay, it might happen later on. For instance he has a stroke and have his legs and hands paralyzed. In order to see one’s weaknesses a person absolutely needs such experiences. He comes closer to Allah as he sees his weaknesses. For instance there are very spoiled people that you may see around, excuse me but snob people. Such a man may suffer from a severe illness, and before long you see him becoming like a lamb. Holding the Qur’an in his hand, he talks about Allah and Islam all the time. You might have seen and heard such people. That snobbery disappears and replaced by a beautiful character, the character of a beliver who fears Allah. Rather than living as such a snob and jerk, he would rather lose a limb and earn his eternal life; this would be rather blessed and much more beautiful. Something spectacular. That is, rather than living a healthy life but going to Hell, he would go to the Heaven without an arm. That is much better. Accordingly compared to our brothers who are able to see, our sightless brothers are incomparably rewarded. When people will see that they are in Heaven, they will have a better grasp of why Allah created them so. That is because being sightless is not easy. A Muslim showing patience for it is something very noble. It is instrumental in his being in the Heaven insha’Allah. So does being without hearing or the ability to speak. Similarly a missing limb; these are very acceptable [at Allah’s Sight]. That is because the Companions of our Prophet (saas) were going to war. They were strongly built fellows, the companions. They were healthy in everyway. Their limbs were intact. An arrow comes, enters from one eye and exits from the other. In such a case, what do I feel for him? They are the dearest to me. They are the lions of Allah and that injury becomes instrumental in his entrance to the Heaven. But by earning many times more rewards, because he shows persevarance. There are such incidents amongst the Companions, they are asked; “What do you think?” He answers, “I feel a little bit disappointed only because I can no longer see our Prophet (saas)”, which he even should not utter insha’Allah. Because there is a good in it. Allah would show him in the spiritual sense, insha’Allah. It is acceptable to feel no disappointment insha’Allah. For instance, there had been many companions who lost their arms and legs in order to protect our Prophet (saas). They were like lions, masha’Allah. In a single stroke of an unbeliever, he lost his arm from its most upper part. It becomes instrumental in his entrance to the Heaven. It is a portent of love and it binds him more to Allah. In case of absence of any weakness, people would go astray in an unimaginable fashion. That is to say, in the absence of death, any failure, keeping people, the majority of people, under control would be very difficult.
PRESENTER 2: Let’s imagine the existence of a person who has lost his sight later in his life and started to treat people very badly. Would he still go to the Heaven?
ADNAN OKTAR: In that case that would become an evil for him. Normally there is good in losing an eye. But in the case of an unbeliever, if that man harbours enmity towards religion, that becomes evil for him. His punishment commences. It turns out to be a very great scourge for him. He needs to stand for what is right. He needs to be sincere. That is because it is Allah Who gives that eye and likewise takes it back. That is to say, while giving that eye Allah did not ask us. And nor would He ask while He takes it back. Doesn’t He? It is all for a good purpose. Do you remember your previous life? You do not remember it at all. All-Mighty Allah took and brought us into this world. Insha’Allah. Allah did not ask us [while doing this]. And neither does He while He takes us [from this world.] But how wonderful it is, that is we having an existence. It is wonderful to live, it is very beautiful to have an existence, insha’Allah. Man wants to live for all eternity. Under no circumstances does man want to perish. In no way.
