Excerpt from Live Interview with Mr. Adnan Oktar by Kocaeli TV Channel May 22nd , 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: Allah says in the Qur'an, "Do people imagine that they will be left to say, 'We have faith,' and will not be tested?" (Surat al-Ankabut, 2) See here "Do people imagine that they will be left to say, 'We have faith,' and will not be tested?" For instance we ask, "Do you believe?" He answers, "Yes I do. I do have faith in Allah". "Have you ever read the Qur'an?" He answers, "I have never read it." "Does it ever concern you?" As a reply he utters words that do not mean anything. Look, Allah says, "Do people imagine that they will be left to say, 'We have faith," Allah states that only saying "We have faith" is not sufficient. "and will not be tested?" That is to say, Allah says that He puts people to test by afflictions, difficulties and pain because there is the issue of faithfulness. Do you know how is it to be faithful? Faithfulness costs a person a lot. When one sacrifices someone, sacrificing someone is very easy. You simply sacrifice him. You neither have to see him again nor make any spending for him and nor pay any attention to him. For instance let's imagine that there is someone that you love very much. Allah forbid but imagine that he had a traffic accident and became paralyzed. Now what is faithfulness? You take him to home and look after him throughout a lifetime, for instance, for 50 years if he lives so. That is called faithfulness. How does one lack any honor? How is dishonorable, ignoble conduct? He takes that man and puts him on the street. This is dishonorable conduct. Allah states in the Qur'an that He puts man to test with these. That is to say Allah might have put that person in the same position. Would you then like to be left alone? He would say, "I would never want that." Look this is very outrageous. You ask him, "Would you like him to leave you?" He answers, "No, I would not." Then why do you leave him? He simply answers, "I would leave him." This is immorality. This is cruelty, of course. At this point Allah says, "Do people imagine that they will be left to say without being tested?" That is where we are being tested; with difficulty. For instance someone says unpleasant words. The other responds with even ugliery words. This is unacceptable. For instance if he responds with beautiful, gentle, pleasant words, that man is shocked. He would say, "I have said cruel things to him but he responded with a gentle style. He really has faith in Allah and so shall I." Then he sees the beauty of faith. Because oherwise the other man responds ugly words with even uglier words and the other says reprehensible words in return. Ultimately they kill one another. This is how things proceed. For instance recently there was a film about violence against women. The man runs with a knife in his hand and stabs a girl, a very young girl. This is recorded by the cameras on the streets. The people around mercilessly kick and hit him. It is evident that the violence grows exponentially and people act in a phychopathic and mad spirit. What happens if you show mercy, have pity and compassion? Even if the person is erronous why is there need for cruelty? Isn't he a servant of Allah? You can leave him to the Hereafter, All-Mighty Allah appreciates his state. What is the need for so much cruelty and psychopathic behaviour? That is another trial. But those who are good, pass in this trial. Those who display moral perfection pass the trial. Those who are good are always beautiful. For instance, because we are in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as), Hazrat Mahdi (as) will set a good example for the society. He will be a good example for people. For the sake of one person and the people around him Allah makes the morality of Islam dominant over the entire world and delays the Day of Judgment. That is one good person avails the entire world. Only a single good person. A person might say, "What would a single person do?", right? A person becomes instrumental in the salvation of the entire world.
