Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's interview on Kanal 35 on April 11th , 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: First of all, performing prayers (salat) is a religious observance of believers ever since the time of the Prophet Adam(pbuh), and all Muslims have performed it. Salat is most delightful. Ablution should be performed quickly. I mean one should not be apprehensive and should wash his face and hands happily, and cleanse one's feet, arms and wipe his head with his palm and stand ready for salat in a state of excitement. There is something in it that has not yet been identified, something that has an extraordinary effect beyond just spiritual delight, something that also has an effect on human health. We cannot know. I see that in everyone who performs the prayers. I mean, they are fitter, healthier and better. There is something there, masha'Allah. Allah makes it His instrument. As well as a spiritual fervor, it also has a physical effect. Maybe that will be better revealed in the future. Everyone who believes in Allah, without exception, must perform the salat. But one must be very sincere. One cannot have confused information in loving Allah or seek Him with confused feelings. The Qur'an, for instance, relate everything plainly, the Qur'anic explanations are really very plain. There are many repetitions in the Qur'an. But these repetitions are important elements that enable us to understand. But it is very simple. It is very easy to understand Allah. It is in the nature of our creation to love Allah very deeply. We are created with a passion for Him, and we are also created to love Allah's creations. One begins to find it difficult to love and show compassion and to understand Allah if one accepts impure thoughts in himself, and conflicts with his conscience. It stems from the impurity of the brain, in other words. But if a person's brain is very pure, then understanding Allah is intrinsic for him. It is an automatic effect of the brain, in other words. Of course a believer will behave well if his conscience is not suppressed. People regard religion as being something very complex, they claim it is "as thin as a hair strand and as sharp as a blade". But that is not right at all. Religion is so simple and easy. This is what Allah says, Allah describes the religion "as easy as the religion of Abraham." Allah says; "Allah desires ease for you; He does not desire difficulty for you." People deliberately make things difficult. I mean it is a trickery of satan's. They have deliberately made it inextricable and they are not implementing it at the moment. I mean, they are not implementing that complicated belief, that complicated new religion they have just added. But the religion described in the Qur'an is very simple. The religion that our Prophet (saas) lived by is very simple. The Companions lived by it very well. The reason for the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Hasan and Hazrat Hussein is their simplicity, they way they were easily able to live by Islam, their extrovertism and joy, the way they did inflict suffering on themselves and were definitely opposed to pagan belief. We will also resemble them, insha'Allah.
