From Mr. Adnan Oktar's interview on Kahramanmaras Aksu TV ve Kaçkar TV on April-22, 2010
PRESENTER: "Film stars head the list of attempted suicides. Have you sent them your works?" El Yasin from Germany asks.
ADNAN OKTAR: Of course these are people who suffer very much. They are people who have to try and give the impression of being happy, who feel themselves obliged to do that, but who are not happy at all, and who cannot make those around them happy. The people around them are not happy, either, so they make an imitation of happiness. A singer comes on to do his act. Young boys and girls start screaming the roof down as if they had gone mad. You must have seen it. They shout like crazy people. Now that is not from happiness. It is just a play, a show for the people around them. They want to entertain themselves. Shouting and screaming with all one's might just makes the person concerned uncomfortable, for one thing. Then it gives discomfort to the person himself. And what is there to shout and scream about? At the end of the day, that person is just an entity made of flesh and bone. Someone who eats, drinks and has natural needs just like you or me. But when they stand up with a microphone in their hands the whole place goes mad. Everyone starts showing off to everyone else, when there is nothing going on. There is no sense in pretending to have a good time. They aren't really having a good time at all. Shouting and screaming is not having a good time. You may as well go out on the street and shout your head off there. What is entertaining about shouting and screaming? Enjoyment is something in the heart. One takes pleasure from things in the depths of one's heart. One delights in passion. One delights in lovely feelings, in detailed and wide-ranging feelings. But pushing and shoving with tens of thousands of other people just gets one crushed. Most of the people there are in danger of being crushed. Shouting and screaming in a place where there is no air. They are all covered in sweat, as well. The sufferings they undergo are unbelievable. Right? There is a saying in Turkish which indicates that some creatures like to be put in difficult positions. They wrong themselves. I take shelter in Allah from the satan, in the verse Allah says; "Allah does not wrong people in any way; rather it is people who wrong themselves"They have found false ways of amusing themselves. Ecstasy. Drugs. What pleasure can a person take once his mind and attention have been distracted with drugs? That person will be distracted, lose control of his limbs and start seeing hallucinations. May Allah forbid that is a tragedy. How can such a thing make anyone happy? It is a disgrace. Or they drink till they can hardly stand and starts seeing the floor in slope. How uncomfortable it is to see the floor in a slope, they feel like they are going to fall over, loose balance and struggle to find the door handle. How can that possibly be at all entertaining? Then they feel sick, don't they? They start hyperventilating, these are evident symptoms of poisoning. "We got drunk out of our heads and had a great time," they say. What's great about that? They fall over and get covered in dirt. They tear their jackets and beat one another up. "It was great, unforgettable," they say. But what is unforgettable about that disgrace? They have really distorted the concept of amusement in the End Times. They turn the volume of their music so high so it shatters the ear drums. How can one listen to music like that? There is a reasonable tone of music and one enjoys listening that. Otherwise it numbs the brain and the ears. Then when they go outside they can't hear a thing. "How are you" you ask, and they say, "Pardon? Did you say something?" Their ears stop working. What effect will that volume have on the brain and the ears? What is entertaining about that? In other words, wherever there is discomfort, off they go. Or they pump nitrogen to the air, liquid nitrogen, jumping in the smokes or wrestle in the foams, etc. All their clothes get ruined. They pour champagne over each other. Is it better to go around in clean clothes, or in clothes that smell of champagne? They wander round soaking wet. Where is the entertainment in that? What is so entertaining about walking around in a disgusting state, all his clean clothes stained with champagne? I cannot understand it. They get all covered in foam and then say, "We had a really fun time." There is no air in these places and on top of it they pump nitrogen and then they light a fire, smoke everywhere, you can't see a thing, everyone bumps into everyone else, shouting with all one's might, the music is at unbelievable volume, and they still say they are "having a fabulous time." How can they have had a fabulous time? But when they go out they look really fed up. Because it wears them down, wears them out psychologically and causes them terrible stress. Then it takes them the next two days to recover. What fun is that? Fun keeps people fit and one feels a relief and feels revived. That is what we call having fun. Right? It is restorative. What kind of fun just shatters a person, wears his nerves and exhaust him? For example, one goes and eats on a plate, they just soak that plate in a bowl and they wash them all in the same bowl, most of them. That is what happens in some places. They have a bit of salad left over, they just add them to each other. I mean how can we be sure of that person's conception of cleanliness? He may have jaundice or something. May he not? He could have some infections. He might be suffering from pneumonia. They make them sit in the same places. They touch the same things he has been touching. People of all kinds turn up, perverts, abnormal people or crazies or normal types. Imagine that a glass is rinsed like that; then they put someone else's drink in it. So he will have been drinking out of the same glass.
Or they go to a swimming pool, and someone comes straight out of the bathroom and dives directly into the pool. But he may have an infection in his body or some diseases for instance. There will be dirt in invisible places on his body and he becomes clean in that swimming pool water. They all get into that same pool. Then the same water gets in his nose and ears and everywhere. He even swallows it down and then says, "We had a great time." But people should be punctilious about cleanliness. All those people who swim in pools like that have sinusitis. They all have middle ear infections, eye infections or liver infections. They all cough and itch, people like that. Yet they still behave as if nothing was wrong. They have sinusitis but boast about it, as if it were something to be proud of. "Selamun Aleykum, how are you?" we say, "I've got sinusitis," they say. As if it were something to be proud of, like gold or silver. I don't know. Am I looking at it wrongly? I can't see any logic in it. One has to look logically. There is delight in depth, and beauty and passion. Isn't there? There is beauty in deep thought. There is beauty in detail and in an environment that is as clean as possible, and in clean people. But who knows what can happen in a confused, dangerous, mafia-like situation full of crazies and addicts. You do not know who will do what. They feed them all from the same plates, drink from each other's glasses and wash them all in the same place. I can't see any fun in that. I am not talking about everyone, of course, just some people. The things that one will enjoy in Islam are totally different. The depths are totally different. You take deep pleasure from everything created by Allah, and that is an ineffable delight. Proportionate to the depth of faith. The more faith one has, the more pleasure one takes. When faith is weak, then things revolve around the superficial, and depth is removed. Consequently, the pleasures they enjoy are those false ones. Pleasures based on description, virtual pleasures, whereas they really feel no such happiness or excitement. They just imitate it. In fact, they meet up with one another. There are those famous moments when they come across one another, hugging and jumping up in the air and all that. But someone who truly loves another person feels no need for all that kind of games. That is because you feel no need for such artificial gestures in profoundity. "You won't believe it, but I swear that I am really glad you came," they say. What need is there to make such affirmations? You say they won't believe it, what are you saying that they won't be able to believe. What you said is a very reasonable thing anyway, why is there the need to say that in the first place. What have you to say Miss.Ebru, am I mistaken?
PRESENTER:That is true. You are very right.
ADNAN OKTAR:Is what I said logical?
PRESENTER:Of course, Estagfirullah.
ADNAN OKTAR:What do you say to this?
PRESENTER2:It is very logical.
ADNAN OKTAR:Right?
ALTUĞ BERKER:There is a verse which states that, I seek refuge in Allah from the satan; "hearts can only be satisfied by remembering Allah." You always describe how they rush around, but never find satisfaction. They go here and there but are never satisfied.
ADNAN OKTAR:They say; "Let's go there." They go there and sit down. Then he says he is bored. "Let's go," he says. And they go somewhere else. They say they are bored there too. So they go to a hamburger bar and get bored there, too. So they go home and complain they are bored. That means that Allah gives them no peace. If a person has a clear conscience and powerful faith, and if he has the loved ones around, then a lovely garden or an area with lots of greenery will delight him. Even a cat, a little kitten will give deep pleasure if a person has faith. Even an insect, a little butterfly for instance, can delight one. Music, music that he likes, can bestow pleasure if one can attain depth of that soul. It is lovely to eat good food in the company of people one likes. I don't say people should not enjoy themselves, but only entertainment with a heart committed to Allah would be nice. Only in that case a person's soul is satisfied. Otherwise, there is always an emptiness, pain, suffering and tension, and distress follows that person wherever he goes. I mean, one's troubles do not fade with shouting and screaming. Nor by throwing oneself down on the ground. Allah's words are quite explicit, I seek refuge in Allah from the satan, I start with the name of Allah, Rahman and Rahim; "By the Late Afternoon, truly man is in loss except for those who have iman and do right actions and urge each other to the truth and urge each other to steadfastness."Urging each other to the truth and steadfastness and doing right actions meaning behaving honestly. Honesty is something that eases a person, and is one of the greatest delights. Honesty is a huge delight. Honesty and faith. When a sincere person speaks, it delights us. But we are uneasy when an insincere person speaks. "I wish he would stop talking" one says. I am not referring to religious matters here. But the conversation of an honest person is really delightful. The love of an honest person is also delightful. But someone who is insincere demonstrating love makes one uncomfortable and annoys one. Or artificial behavior. But if one loves sincerely, then that pleases the soul, and a mutual love develops. That is why Allah takes sincerity as the only measure. I take shelter in Allah from the satan, Allah says "only My sincere servants will be saved." Only they will achieve salvation.
