Excerpt From Mr. Adnan Oktar's interview on Kocaeli TV on 30 April, 2010
PRESENTER 1:"Shaqira performed the official World Cup song in Africa this year. It begins with the image of a footballer praying. The words say, "Listen to Allah. This is our motto." Masha'Allah. There is a rise in love of Allah all across the world. I would like to learn what you think."
ADNAN OKTAR:Shaqira is a young girl influenced by Islam. That means that upbringing left over from the Ottomans is still in her soul. Something of it has remained. We can see its excellent effects from her language and behavior. Her family is also in all likelihood one filled with love for Islam and the Qur'an. Insha'Allah she will use even more explicit, more hearty language. From what I can tell, Shaqira is also very clever. Her expression is very sharp, and she is a highly intelligent person. I think this is one step, the first step. She will develop and strengthen it still further and make her language even more effective. Because artists are converting to Islam all the time in Europe and America. And Muslim ones are beginning to explicitly reveal that fact. As a continuation of these excellent developments, if she also acts in a beautiful manner, if she acts even more nicely, then she will be loved a thousand times more than she is currently loved, with a real love. At the moment people feel love to her flesh, her dancing, etc. May Allah forbid, but if something happened to Shaqira's face, if she got hit by a car, or if her face got burnt or something, then some people would not even remember the first letter of her name, I tell you. Those of her fans shouting out and jumping up and down now, wouldn't even stoop to speak with her, may Allah forbid. If she got cancer, may Allah forbid, everyone would forget her. Not even her closest friends would look for her, most of them do not even phone her. Or if they were to say, "this person is no artist," if the press were all to say, "We don't want to see this kind of person every again, she is useless" or if they were to utter a few slanders against her, then Shakira would seize to exist. She should know that the society could easily turn their backs on her, I mean a great many people could. She should know that they only love her for her body, her flesh, her voice, her gestures and dancing, just because they find her entertaining. I mean this love is a real love, it is just a fancy. There is a bit of lust in it, and a bit of other things, perhaps. It is a feeling like that. This cannot be called love. Love is to be for Allah's approval, and people should love her as a manifestation of Him. Feelings of affection and protection should prevail. In other words, you are to love her in sickness and in health. In fact, you must love her even more when she is sick. Right? Or when she gets old. But that does not happen in these people. For example, something happens and someone is paralyzed, they themselves say that no one ever asks after them or picks up the phone. The other day there was an artist brother of ours in Turkey. His language was very devout, and he contracted cancer. May Allah cure him. His wife had issued statements from before, saying how much she loved him and could not bear for him to be out of her sight for a moment and that kind of thing. Then he got cancer. And she was off. That was it, she casted him off like an old rag in 5 minutes. That is what happens when one does not love for Allah's approval. But if one loves for Allah's approval, one's love becomes even stronger. One would be even more affectionate. One must give moral support to a cancer sufferer from all aspects. You must look after them well and show them affection, isn't that right? You must cheer them up and keep their spirits up. Such a thing could have a terrible negative impact on some people. But nothing can have a negative impact on a Muslim, on someone with sound faith. But one must also consider the people in the middle. That person is already fighting the disease. And on top of that striking him with such blow.. Right? I mean, in that case his disease would become like a crime. Why did you fall ill? If you fall ill this is what I will do to you. This is what will happen to you. Or, why did you have that traffic accident? If you have a traffic accident, see what I do to you. See how many ways these people are punished. They go to the doctor and he demands a fortune to treat them. They sell their homes and cars and suffer a huge blow from that direction. The man already has cancer and is fighting for his life. That is important enough by itself. See that on top of that he also loses his home and car. Then he loses his wife, his friends, and the former love and respect he enjoyed. This should be a very good lesson for people. A person would face this bitter truth when he is not loved for Allah's approval. But by then it would be too late. But if people put Allah's approval to the forefront, if they make it their main aim, then there will be happiness. Allah will bestow constant abundance, peace and beauty. The alternative is hurt. Young men and women should strongly oppose such false love after all. False love is very terrifying. Take rich people. As you know, rich people receive unbelievable flattery and are shown unbelievable adoration and love. They may be deeply unpleasant, peevish and immoral, but you would be amazed to see immaculate people bow in front of them and scrape before them. They go to the shops or a restaurant and the people there say, "It's on the house." I mean, see how astonishing this is. This man is in any case in difficult circumstances, but he would still not take their money. They do so with the hope of receiving something better and finer from them someday. However that day will never come, of course, which is why the other person got so rich in the first place. If he were to help he wouldn't be that rich anyway. I consider those to whom this does not apply free of this, of course, I am telling this only for some of them. For instance they go somewhere, it may be inland or abroad, and things immediately come to them free of charge. You can see this around you for yourself if you like. But when the person loses his money a terrible anger and hatred immediately rises up. For example, if he goes to that person who insisted to dine him for free previously, and if that person has already heard that he has been bankrupted and is ruined, that person will spurn him and not give him the time of day. He will speak harshly and not even allow him in or near that restaurant. Isn't that right? Well then my brother, what need is there for that shameful behavior? Isn't this very painful? How humiliating it is for someone to be loved for their money. It is also humiliating to be loved solely for one's looks. That is horrible. This is because when you lose those looks.. For instance, you.. you are a very beautiful person, but Allah forbid, you are just a servant created by Allah. The flesh is just the same with the meat in the butcher's shop. You know how that meat suddenly becomes stale and falls apart, right? Even in two days it becomes stale. Meat is a feeble substance. Even vegetables are longer lasting. Meat is very short-lived. It falls apart instantly. Meat is an easily crushed, spoilt, easily falling apart, a very weak substance. And human beings are made up of flesh and bones. May Allah forbid, but if anything happens, anything happens to your face and that can happen very easily. One may catch a bacterial infection or something else. One may suffer a stroke and end up with half one's face paralyzed. People end up unable to move one side of their faces. That is very reasonable and can happen very easily. Or one may suffer a traffic accident or some other accident and lose one part of one's face. Something may fly into one's eye so one loses his eye. That earlier interest and concern will then vanish in many people right away. One must realize how terrible that is and how important it is to love for Allah's approval.
