Excerpt from Adnan Oktar's Interview at Adıyaman Asu TV on May 3th, 2010
PRESENTER: Our people's thoughts on organ donation are not very clear. Is organ donation permissible by our religion or is it forbidden? This is because there are various talks stating that the organs we donate will be absent when we are awaken in the Hereafter. Can we get your thoughts on this?
ADNAN OKTAR: This is really very illogical. Quite so irrational.
PRESENTER:This is something I hear from people around me very frequently.
ADNAN OKTAR: Organs decay in the grave, come apart and disappear. There is no such thing. There is no such thing as the same organs in the Hereafter. Allah says, "with a completely new creation". He says, look "with a completely new creation." What is "a completely new creation?" A completely new form. Even our molecular structure will change, not only our bones and flesh. The laws of physics will change. There will not be the same laws. The laws of physics will change. Therefore, that word has no meaning. But there is a point, let me explain by an example: I had a girlfriend, a very valued girlfriend. Her father got sick. They took him to America. They said, "This person's brain death has occurred; let's disconnect him from the life support machine. What do you say?" they asked. The whole family unanimously said; "Okay, let's disconnect him." And there were talks about even donating his organs. They asked me. I said, "No." I mean who's to say that his brain is dead? Just as that, he recovered a week later and came back to Turkey. Look, if I said "yes"- had I said "yes," they would have unplugged him and it would have been murder. The whole family accepted. They all know; they are watching right now. I have saved the man, I mean Allah made me an instrument. This should be dealt with. His heart will stop. His heart should stop and brain death should occur, after that they can donate whatever part of the body they want. They can get all of it, but absolute death must occur first. If they can determine it technically, because after some time passes, they might be up to no good, but if they can determine it rapidly and take the organs immediately, from head to toe, there is no part that they cannot donate.
Furthermore, this is something everyone should do, if they achieve such a technology. I mean to say, "Let it stay, it may be necessary in the Hereafter," is unbelievable. How will you take a body that will break up in soil to the Hereafter? Is it possible? A very big game was played on Islam. Tens of thousands, millions of games have been played. Not just one or two. And one of these is this one. Therefore there is no need to attach any importance. But this point is very vital. I mean there should be a clear opinion that death really did occur, only then. Moreover, they can even issue an ordinance and make us vote. There is even no need to ask. They can take letters of consent previously from all citizens, right? And close the subject. This is not a matter to drag out this much. It can be dealt with right away insha'Allah.
