ADNAN OKTAR: Now those who have a tattoo done. Tattoo is in fact something that hurts and it is forbidden to hurt a human being. But if it is done as a decoration without getting hurt, it doesn't prevent ablution. If it appeals to somebody then it can be done. But there is the risk of catching an infection and it hurts and all, so these are not okay. One should not wrong himself, one should be careful about this, doing wrong to oneself, is not acceptable, it is forbidden. But if there is a system which avoids these, and if it appeals to him or her, then may be some small things can be possible. Because women also do make-up and beautify, if it appeals to them, they can have it, there is no harm in that.
PRESENTER:They do it with henna, it stays on for five days.
ADNAN OKTAR: That for example.. If she likes it; and is doing so for the purpose of beautifying herself, to show herself to her lawful one, then it can be done. This subject of surgery, we have explained it as well, but if we are to give more detail; for example the man is born with 6 fingers as a wisdom of Allah. And the 6th finger is there as an extra, and it has no function. Someone who sees it gets irritated and looks to see what that is. Why face such a situation? In a small operation, that area is anesthetized and it is removed. Now, saying "it is created by Allah", yes that is created by Allah, okay, but it is also Allah Who takes it away, as well insha'Allah. That finger can also come off as a result of an accident, but without that happening, the surgeon removes it in a surgery. Who created the surgeon? Allah does. Who gives him that power? Allah. Therefore, if there are things that embarrass them, if there are things that make young ladies ashamed, then that can be fixed. There is nothing wrong in that.
But just for the fun of it, as I have said, trying to elevate their cheekbones. They do something to that area and another thing to some other part, saying "I don't like this part." But, what are you doing there? You take narcosis. What is the rate of death by narcosis?
OKTAR BABUNA: It's like 0,1 percent, a low number for now.
ADNAN OKTAR: But no matter what, there is a risk of death, isn't there? A person doesn't go into such risk for no reason insha'Allah. But if it's something that troubles the person to an unbearable extent, then it may be done. I mean may be. If it can be done without narcosis, it would be better. By better I mean, that I can accept. If it can be done without narcosis, if there is a type of surgery done just by anesthetizing that area, it can be done. This can be done.
Look, if it spoils the quality of life and disturbs one in the streets.. let's assume that he or she is born with a mole on his or her forehead, there is something by birth; it is removed with a small operation. What should that stay? Almighty Allah created it that way in the destiny and He already knows that it is going to be removed by surgery; He created that accordingly. It is removed and the case is closed. This is what I'm saying, so there is no need to open up a new era. Insha'Allah.
OKTAR BABUNA: Just like you said Master, there could be a necessity at the same time. For example, there is a deviation in one's nose and it causes a difficulty. When performing surgery, they correct that broken part slightly as well. They use general narcosis for that surgery anyway.
ADNAN OKTAR:For example, I see young ladies who have a nose job. For example her nose big as it is, is more beautiful and suits her better. They have something done and the area is carved and they turn themselves into pug nosed Iranian cats. Why bother? It gives her a character and personality as it is. They don't know. They get deceived by sayings like, "Oh it look very abnormal." On the contrary, it is more beautiful in its natural form. But sometimes the natural form may really look very repulsive and weird. It can be done on that condition. Why should the child live like that for a lifetime? If Almighty Allah gave her such an opportunity, then it can be done. There is nothing wrong it that insa'Allah.
OKTAR BABUNA:You know better Master insha'Allah. Many people died during that operation called liposuction. There were people who had it out of arbitrariness.
ADNAN OKTAR:For example, this is very meaningless. Of course one should not enter into something with death risk. If there is the risk of death, then it can't be done. But if there is the possibility of performing local anesthesia on that area only, that can be done insha'Allah.
In addition, when I tell something, I do so with my own conscience, as far as I understand from the verses, the hadiths. But they should not ask me any questions about Islamic law. They can get the Islamic catechism book of Omer Nasuhi Bilmen. It contains everything they are looking for. Hundreds and thousands of questions about Islamic law are asked; I don't answer any of them. I give the same answer for all; Omer Nasuhi Bilmen's book of Islamic catechism. They will look into that as it contains everything they are searching for insha'Allah.
The ummah will continue to be the imitator of a sect until Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) comes. This is important. Other than that, it would be mischief and also very dangerous. So no one can decide on his or her own. A person has to be an absolute mujtahid (interpreter of Islamic law) in order for him to behave according to his own rulings. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is said to be, "The greatest mujtahid and the greatest mujaddid(renovator)" When he comes, then it's okay. Then the time will come to be as in Age of Felicity(the time of the Prophet (saas)). But until he comes, meaning until the time he appears, obedience to the sect is the accurate path. If one is Hanafi, then Hanafi; if Maliki, then Maliki; if Shafi or another sect then one should be acting by the rulings of that sect..
