Excerpt from Adnan Oktar's Live Interview at Kocaeli TV on May 8th, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: When we meet a person, we have to evaluate whether that person is spiritually normal or not. I mean to see what his reasoning is like. How is his intelligence? How is his mental stability? How is his character? Does he have an open comprehension? If so, to what extend it is? To what extent is he sincere? These must be determined. For example, there are openly insane, unstable people in society. They go and argue with them till their ears get all red. But the man is obviously crazy as he comes up with incredibly tactless claims and cries out of anger after arguing. This shows that he is very unstable. For example, I'm talking to you. You have a good character; you personality shows itself as we talk. For example, it is understood from your glances that you are a stable, normal, reasonable person. But as a plus it is seen that you are conscientious. It is understood that you have a sincere personality.
For example, if we talked more, details as to your conscience can be seen. After determining that, then it is easy to explain. But this is not how it's done in society in general. They pay attention to neither one's culture nor mental stability, and they tell as it goes and get into trouble. It causes a very negative effect then. When there are people with soul, with open conscience, with open mind, they must be told about Islam with patience and care. They are like flowers; they blossom slowly. If they are not really disturbed, if one doesn't give an abnormal appearance and if their consciences are provoked, then they blossom. But look, Allah says, Allah gives a secret here, "Most people do not have faith." So this is certain, we will know that this exists in society. We will know this is the case. Allah says, "Most people who have faith do not believe without idols." So they believe on the basis of their interests. For example in marriage, the man says, "I will marry you." She says, "Okay." He says, "If you wear a turban and perform prayers and fast, I'll marry you." She says, "Of course, you name it I'll do it immediately." And that naive person believes that she is a real Muslim.
However look, the man's condition is explicit as he says, "If you are to marry me, you will do these." So he sets the conditions and that's why she is doing it. She already says openly that she doesn't do it for the good pleasure of Allah. He accepts it even though he knows that it's polytheism and becomes very happy with it. There are many cases like that. Or for example, he is very rich, he has a business and when she sees that she begins to perform prayers right there and then. She begins just when she sees him and he becomes happy with that. But there is an open polytheism there. A child would see that. For them to have sincere faith, one should behave rationally and use a rational manner. Because faith other than sincere faith is not acceptable; Allah doesn't accept that. That's an idol, it's an idol thought. Because Allah says, "They bring some to Me" and "they bring some to their idols." Allah says, "I give all of them to their idols." Allah says, "All would go to their idols and I would take none of they have given to Me."
Therefore, there is always a very big crowd that think themselves as very clever in every society, everywhere. This must be paid attention to. For example, I can't tell the religion to an unstable person. I engage in small talk, meaning I don't talk at all and I don't give them the time of day. Not in the sense of being angry; I show compassion but I don't make a connection. Because it's risky. It's certain that a problem is to occur and it occurs eventually. More openly, one has to put up with them. Because it's certain that it will be like drunken talk, he will trifle, and serially engage in tactlessness. And there is also a trouble called mindlessness. A mindless person doesn't know that he is mindless.
PRESENTER 2:Yes, they still insist in claiming to be wise
ADNAN OKTAR: I don't know. You certainly see around, there are mindless people around.
PRESENTER 2:Yes we see.
ADNAN OKTAR:The mindless thinks, that he is extraordinarily wise. For example, he is being belittled, he is groveling and living a dog's life but he thinks that he is incredibly smart and he gives advice to others around him. He sees himself as bright as a button. He is also very generous on giving advice and tells everyone "this should be like that..." But he can't even walk on the street or talk sensibly. He is always in trouble but he still gives advice. So one must first find the smart person, the rational person, a person who has a soul, whom Allah has given a soul, who has a clear mind and conscience.
