Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview at Kocaeli TV on August 14th, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR: "My valuable master." Ms. Kevser wrote this and she says "My respects." "I have read a section of your book called 'The Debased Culture Of Superficiality'. It especially called my attention that in the book you mention the debased attitudes, affected styles of speech employed by people and the superficiality in their eyes and looks. Sighs, statements to get sympathy, using a hoarse voice, squinting one's eyes and sticking with unnecessary details. How ca n we get rid of this affectedness in our looks and talks? How can we become natural in the full meaning of the word and mature people as you also mentioned?" This is what Ms. Kevser says. What will Ms. Kevser do? She will let herself go. My friends here are very sincere for instance. They do not hold themselves back and act as they feel like. But if a person has complexes, he would become sick. In superiority or inferiority complex, one begins to talk nonsense and starts to act incoherently and affectedly. Affected behaviors are first and foremost funny. It is very insulting that a person resorts to such acts, it is really insulting. For example, I see people on Ramadan programs as well. They talk in a completely different manner when talking about religious subjects. Right? I see this sometimes on religious movies as well. They say "Oooh my son-n-n!" Just say "Oh my son!" brother. What is happening as you say "oh my son" as if your voice is coming out of a cave? What difference does it make? It just annoys me and I do not like it at all. Right? This question asked by our sister Kevser is very critical. This is a subject that needs to be widened. This is a very vital thing.
OKTAR BABUNA:Master, you have said "I realized these as a kid." These artificial attitudes of people.
ADNAN OKTAR:Yes that is why I wrote the book called "The Religion of the Ignorant." I realized this when I was at primary school, middle school. They talk in an artificial manner, whispering to one another. They turn the coffee cups upside down while gulping and patting on the back of the cup. They are incredibly affected and there are so many just affected ways of talking. I can count at least 40 or 50 styles and all of which are more disturbing than the other. Why are you not natural brother? It would certainly be tiring for a person. I do not understand how they do it.
