Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be wherever the dajjal (anti-messiah) is. Since the dajjal cannot enter Mecca and Medina, Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will not be in Mecca or Medina.

ADNAN OKTAR: For example, some people, including Cubbeli, say "Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will begin his activities in Mecca and Medina; he will emerge there in Mecca and Medina." Now, these people's knowledge of hadiths and their general perspective are a bit incomplete, distorted and wrong. Our Prophet (saas) says: "There are two places the dajjal (anti-messiah) cannot enter" -in some hadiths it is three, including Jerusalem- "He will not be able to enter Mecca and Medina." Allah will protect those places.. He will not be able to enter Mecca and Medina. So Darwinist, materialistic, atheistic thought will not be able to enter those places. What is Mahdi (pbuh) doing in a place where the dajjal (anti-messiah) cannot enter? Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is already coming to destroy the dajjal (anti-messiah). Since the dajjal (anti-messiah) cannot enter Mecca and Medina; there is no meaning for Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) being there. It is a place where he will not struggle. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will go to a place where there is struggling. Where is the place Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be struggling? Istanbul. How do we understand that it is Istanbul? We understand this from very many hadiths. Our Prophet (saas) openly says "Constantinople." They [Companions] ask about Medina. They ask about Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) emerging from Medina. They ask "Which Medina, o Messenger of Allah (saas)?" Our Prophet (saas) explains that. When they ask "Which Medina?" he says "Constantinople" meaning Istanbul. 'Medina' means city. But they ask "Which Medina?" Constantinople, Istanbul is the answer. The dajjal (anti-messiah) will not be able to enter Mecca and Medina. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) would not enter a place where the dajjal (anti-messiah) cannot enter. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be wherever the dajjal (anti-messiah) is. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is the individual who will destroy the dajjal (anti-messiah). Therefore, one of the places where the system of the dajjal (anti-messiah) exists intensely is Istanbul. So it is a place where Darwinism, materialism and atheist thought can easily enter. So Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) suffocates the system of the dajjal (anti-messiah), here insha'Allah
