ADNAN OKTAR: Our brothers are curious about the things that happened in the past.  Yes, back then I have been chained from my ankle to the iron bedpost with thick chain-links.  They have put on a steel cuff around my ankle, around my right ankle; with a think chain of 1m or so, a short chain. I have said that it was very short and that I was performing prayers and that it really pulled my feet as I stood, I would be performing my prayers and my foot didn't come across and that as a requisite of salat (prayers) that one's feet should be on the ground. I have insisted a lot and they have accepted that only after a day and added another chain, another chain of 1 meter. Only then I could be in a position that I was able to perform my prayers.

ADNAN OKTAR:Of course, I walked around there for 1.5 months with a chain on my ankle, for 45 days.  I didn't understand why there was the need for that anyway. I was already brought there with my hands cuffed at my back. I am looking at them now, and I see that people are walking in and talking with their hands free even for the indictable offences. Right? There is a goodness in that. It was the same before; when I was arrested back in 1986, they have handcuffed me with thick handcuffs fixed around my wrists. But they didn't do that as a part of common practice; the cuffs were stinging in right till my bones leaving a very deep scar around my wrists. They were squeezing it in very tight and I was asking; "Is there really need for that? " And they said : "that is how it is, that's how it should be." So I said "alright" insha'Allah.

When I was first put into custody, they have handcuffed me to the friend beside me. I saw the journalists running towards us with great enthusiasm and I raised up the handcuffs like this so that they could see. After that.. when they saw that, the next day they have cuffed my hands on my back so that I could not raise up my hands anymore.  My brother, these were all very strange incidents. I mean what would matter? Handcuffs were an honor for me insha'Allah, it was a matter of pride. Also before that, I was chained to the conveyor chain in 1986, while I was taken from here to there.  Together with the communists, I was put in the same transportation vehicle. Together with them, tied with a much thicker chain-links, to the conveyor chain I was being transported here and there. Back then, they have had a uniform, they were putting those uniforms everyone wore inside a bag and you were choosing one among them which would suit you and wear it. So we have taken one and worn it back then.  Nineteen months later, the public prosecutor, the same public prosecutor said "there is no element of crime" and nineteen months later he said; "I ask for the acquittal of the defendant" and the court gave acquittal instantly. However it took 19 months for the court to think on it. I mean, of course there should be something they know..

First they have said.. I have said "I am a member of the Turkish people and of the nation of Islam. "  And because of those words I was arrested and 19 months later; the public prosecutor said "there is nothing wrong with those words".  I was kept 10 months in the mental hospital and 9 months in solitary confinement and they said: "Now you can go, there is no element of crime." And I thanked them and went. Insha'Allah. There is goodness in all of those..
