Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview on Kanal Avrupa and Cay TV dated October 31st, 2010
ADNAN OKTAR:"Master my question is this; in the Quran Allah revealed; "Believers are brothers and sisters. Do not make friends with unbelievers." I have heard this from your previous conversations. Unbelievers; both Christians and Jews are of course unbelievers because they claim that Allah has a child [Allah is beyond their claims] and they do not accept our Prophet (saas). I heard you say "These are my brothers." If you could explain.. I am watching your live program now. I am waiting for an answer curiously." There is no name. What is the harm in giving a name? As if I were to go and beat them up or anything. What am I going to do to them? This is a very innocent and nice question. It should not be without a name. At the very least, you can write your name and not surname. What is the problem? We do not insist on broadcasting your whole family line anyway. "Believers are brothers and sisters." Yes. Believers are brothers and sisters. "Unbelievers; Christians and Jews" Jews are our "La ilahe illa Allah brothers." Christians who say "La ilahe illa Allah" are our "La ilahe illa Allah" brothers and sisters. But if it is the other way around; I mean if they are completely in blasphemy and heresy; they are our brothers and sisters from the Prophet Adam (pbuh). They are our brothers and sisters in this world insha'Allah. This brotherhood of faith is a brotherhood based on the Quran and there is responsibility in this. There is Quranic responsibility. Brother will look out for brother. There are lots of responsibilities. Just like there are responsibilities in marriage. Right? There is also a law of being brothers in Islam. You become responsible for everything about him; you would be responsible for protecting his life, protecting his possessions, protecting his everything and to train him and to take care of him with deep compassion, you give him alms and help him. Understood? You are responsible to protect him like this. But otherwise when we say "brother" what do we want to do with our "La ilahe illa Allah" brothers? We want to become "Muhammad ar-Rasul Allah brothers", we are striving for that; they are our La ilahe Illa Allah brothers at the moment. What do we say to our brothers who are our brothers from the Prophet Adam (pbuh)? "You are our brothers and sisters by blood." Do we not come from the same line? Our grandfather is the Prophet Adam (pbuh). One child becomes irreligious in a family and one becomes a Muslim. Now for example this brother of mine must have irreligious people in his family; his brother might be irreligious or his cousin but they sit at the table together. What does he say when one asks? He says "My brother." Does he not say "My brother?" They call him "My brother". He would of course dislike him in terms of faith; but they are brothers from the line of the Prophet Adam (pbuh). Just like he calls his brother "my brother" in that case; the brotherhood there is the same brotherhood. That is "salvation brotherhood". His brother is getting drowned and you will save him. It is brotherhood in that sense, understood? Because if you say; "He is nothing" or "He is like an object," that wouldn't be correct. He is something, that person. What? What are you going to say if they ask "Who is this man?" You will say "He is my brother from the Prophet Adam (pbuh)." You cannot say "I do not know him." He is from your family. Right? You are part of the same family, in that sense. Therefore, it is a word of introduction intended for salvation and affection at the same time. Are you going to say to the man "He is a creature?" What are we to say? You will say "My brother." What are you going to say? Insha'Allah
