ADNAN OKTAR: What is Islam? It is honesty, sincerity, cordialness, pureness, good intentions, fondness to art and science; and following their lead and executing it. For instance Almighty Allah says; "Do they not look at the skies?"

My brother with "Do they not look at the skies?" looking through a telescope is meant. When we look at the skies with naked eye we cannot see anything anyway. We can only see very few things. Allah means the space technology. Allah mentions a comprehensive research. Allah tells us about the stars and the constellations. A comprehensive research is required for that and it is apparent that science is a religious obligation.  For instance Allah says; "Do they not look at earth?" Allah wants us to research the earth; the layers of the earth. How could that happen? It could happen through paleontology, through geology. How else could we do that? Allah wants us to investigate the past life. Allah says; "Look at your first creation"; to the first creation. How? This can only be done with paleontology. In the Qur'an in hundreds of verses, the necessity of science is emphasized. And the necessity of art is emphasized. Allah gave that to us in our creation anyway. For instance, we comfortably perform our religious duties through the use of science, through the means of science. For instance, people can comfortably go to Hajj by plane.   All the people could go by that, right? You open up the land with graders, you enlarge the land and people make use of that. You build buildings. I mean Allah shows us the necessity of science explicitly. He shows us that from all aspects. We also like art very much. We feel relieved with everything that is beautiful.
