Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview on Samsun AKS TV dated March 17th, 2011
ADNAN OKTAR: Look, Almighty Allah says in the Surat Al-Kahf.. -of course the verses in the Qur'an have many aspects, but now I will be showing you another aspect; the 86th verse; ".. until he reached the setting of the sun and found it setting in a muddy spring and found a people by it. We said, Dhu'l-Qarnayn! You can either punish them or else you can treat them with gentleness'."
"..found a people by it."Look ; "he reached the setting of the sun.." The flag of Japan is in the shape of a sun as you know. The Japan flag is a sun. Show us the Japan flag and let us see.. Yes.. Okay.. "found it setting in a muddy spring.." I mean, I do not know if you had seen the sea during the Tsunami. Do you have the film of it? It was pitch black. All muddy and pitch black, it was like a swamp. It was like a black swamp. It was pitch black mud. The Qur'an refers to the sun of the Japan flag setting in that [pitch black mud]. I mean the verse points out to such an event occurring in Japan; to such a "setting in". That is one aspect; look, this is one of the many aspects the verse refers to. I mean we see that, this flag representing the Japans, that symbolical expression in there, is appearing here as well. "..in a muddy spring." That was a huge event as you know. It is a huge event; it is a historical event, it is one of the biggest events of the history of this world. The sea turning into black mud; the flag of Japan being in the shape of a sun and also the fact that there is a people by it, I mean a different people to be present by it; we see that this is a sign of the Qur'an. Insha'Allah. The verses go on; "He said, 'As for those who do wrong, we will punish them and then they will be returned to their Lord and He will punish them with a dreadful punishment." The abjad calculation of the verse is also very meaningful. The abjad calculation is also meaningful. The abjad calculation also gives these years.. the 87th verse of the surat. "But as for him who has iman (faith) and acts rightly, he will receive the best of rewards and we will issue a command, making things easy for him." Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) has a facilitative aspect. I mean he will mitigate the religion; he will clear away the superstitions and corruptions brought upon the religion. The verse refers to that as well insha'Allah.
