Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview on A9 TV and Kocaeli TV dated March26th, 2011
ADNAN OKTAR: That is because alcohol is a substance that causes an enormous damage to the brain and the liver. It causes a great destruction. Saying "O, we have drunk and had fun, we feel like ourselves again." What kind of fun is this? You are being poisoned by the effect of the alcohol. He sees doubles with that poison. What is fun about this? There should be something in it to be fun. You cannot even talk; you cannot put together your words. Is this joy? Where is the joy in that? You cannot even poise, you cannot walk on your way, you fall into the arms of other people. You get blind drunk. Where is the joy of this? You feel sick. How is this a joy? Joy comes with faith, with friends, with the ones you love. It comes with jollification, insha'Allah. You bring fine music instruments; zither, clarinet, mandolin with metal body right? It would be a nice joyful environment. You make a barbeque and so , it would be an endearing environment. That would be okay. But when booze gets into the picture, everything becomes tactless. People start to see in doubles etc, one eye looking down the other looking up. How would fun be in such a position? He cannot even talk properly, he can only look with blank eyes, that is a weird situation. There is nothing to fancy about that. And the day after his face goes pale, his liver gets depraved. And they say "alcohol makes blood." My brother it does not; do not act so ignorantly. With the effect of the alcohol consumed the capillary veins enlarge. The veins get broken, get cracked. Blood starts to spread under the skin. Blood, red blood spreads and it starts to bleed. Subcutaneous bleeding starts. Since the subcutaneous bleeding gets heavy, the whole skin becomes red with blood. And this one says; "O, the man is so red blooded!" However he loses blood on the contrary. Both the red blood cells and the white blood cells are decreased by that. Especially the red blood cells are decreased, insha'Allah. Consequently such people are not that healthy. Their health is destroyed by that. There is nothing to emulate in that. I am explaining it directly I mean I am explaining the scientific aspect of that. I am not just saying it is unlawful. Although even if it were beneficial, you wouldn't have done that if it is unlawful, I mean it should not be done.
ADNAN OKTAR:Our prophet (saas) saw people who drank, ever since his childhood. People who drank were out in the open in the century before him and the one before; they are always out in the open. Such people drink, cause scenes, attack people, they swore in general and then regret. They slap each other, these are their general attitude. Consequently our Prophet (saas) did not come across with drinks only at that time, I mean at the time of the Companions, it was not the first time they ever tried alcohol. They used to drink anyway, they used to drink before. Everyone did. Our Prophet (saas) had seen people who drank, he also saw their fights and brawls; he saw everything. Allah forbade drinking in such an environment. Allah deemed wine and divining arrows unlawful with the verse of the Qur'an. And consequently health and wellness came to people; beauty and goodness came upon them. That is because they thus have protected the health of their brains, protected their mental health. There are a lot of people in the world who are being treated because of alcohol abuse, right? It is a pity for these families; their children are left aggrieved. The man invests all his money on alcohol. And it is savorless. For instance a person who is normally well-mannered might turn into a monster when he drinks alcohol. They become very cruel, they beat their children and their wives. And then the day after, he starts crying and regrets saying "how did I do these?" Isn't it obvious that you are going to do this? Why do you not decide on this while you are sober..
