Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview on A9 TV dated June 13th, 2011
ALTUĞ BERKER: His Highness Bediuzzaman stresses on the importance of patience Master. He has been asked the following question; "What is the wisdom and cause in the verse; "Surely Allah is with the patient"?" The Master responds as follows; "Almighty Allah as the requisite of His Name Al-Hakeem, has made an order in the existence of substances as the flight of stairs. Since an unwise man does not act prudently, he would either fall down the stairs while jumps up the flights or leave them incomplete, so he cannot go up to the roof he aimed for. For that reason ambition is a cause for destitution and patience is the key to difficulties and hardship so that the hopes of the ambitious one would fall in and he would be disappointed. Patience is the key to contentment and comfort." And the Master goes on as follows. He says; "the complaints should be addressed to Him [Allah]" meaning any complaints; "it should be addressed to Him, not from Him, so one should be like the Prophet Jacob (pbuh) saying; "I make complaint about my grief and sorrow to Allah alone.." meaning one should complain about troubles to Allah or else saying "Alas, oh! What have I done to deserve this?" as if to complain about Allah to people and instigate the pity, compassion of helpless people is harmful and meaningless," said the Master Bediuzzaman.
ADNAN OKTAR: He explained it very nicely. Patience.. For instance, look we have been talking about Islam and the Qur'an for 30 years, it is even more than 30 years. Even after 30 more years passing by we would never lose anything from our enthusiasm and excitement. On the contrary we continue talking about Islam with an increasing excitement and enthusiasm. You might talk to a person and he might not understand, you might do some goods to him and he might respond those good acts with evil but we still remain patient. Patience is one of the most fundamental characteristics of a Muslim. One should always be patient on good morals, on good manners and on love. Patience and tolerance should not be confused with each other. Patience does not mean tolerance. Patience means persistent permanency on religious observances carried out with the excitement of worship. It means carrying on religious observances persistently. Or else it does not mean doing that in pain and in disturbance, it is not in the meaning of tolerating. I mean Allah tells us to be patient, but patience does not mean that. It means stability in religious observances. Patience is stability in good morals, in paying compliments, in respect, courtesy and in cleanliness. To be continuously clean, to be continuously generous, to be continuously forgiving and good, to continuously preach religion, to be continuously generous, to be continuously protective. The man says; I have always been generous, I have been generous for 10 years and I won't be anymore." That is not acceptable, he is to keep doing that until the end of his life. He says; I have been forgiving for ten years, he is to keep on doing that. He says; I have been showing love for ten years, he is to keep until the end of his life. Religious observance is only valuable if done consistently, or else if it is carried on only until one point, it would not be valid. Insha'Allah.
