What He Said?What Happened?

As there has been in increase in the number of child abductions recently, Mr. Adnan Oktar said that we cannot prevent this by simply teaching our children to scream for help and suggested that children must have a guide with them when they go outside and the related Ministry must prepare a movie about this to start a campaign.

CHP General Vice President Sezgin Tanrıkulu brought this subject to the fore and asked, “Are 6,000  children who have gone missing in the last 20 years still missing because they did not scream for help?”

(Ertuğrul Özkök draw attention to child molestation and deaths in his column. He said, “We must seek retribution for these unsolved murders just like we seek retribution for those who were sentenced to death .”

ADNAN OKTAR: They catch the man and he goes to prison. This is not a solution. The government has a project, advising children to “Scream well.” This is also not a solution. The children must have a guide when they go out. This is the only solution. It is not reasonable; a man can easily cover the child’s mouth and grab him or her. A child doesn't have the strength to resist. An adult can easily take a child. Even if the child screams, he can say, “This is my child. He is being cranky. I am taking him home.” How will you know otherwise? This is not reasonable. People who have children from each neighborhood will come together. They will appoint someone each day to be responsible for the children when they go out to play.

(The Minister of Family and Social Policies, Aysenur Islam, said about the recent child deaths, “We need to take urgent precautions. As the Family Ministry, our responsibility is to acknowledge families, plan what children could do when they are abused and educate children accordingly.”)

ADNAN OKTAR: This is not a matter of educating our children. How will you educate this child? A child will be a child anyhow. Even if you educate him he will still act like a child. Mother says, “Don't take anything a stranger offers to you.” A man offers chocolate with shiny wrapping and he takes it. She says, “Don't go near strangers.” A man shows some attention and love and the child goes to him. This is not the way. Families will come together in neighborhoods. When it is time for children to go out for play, they will appoint one of the parents as a guide to look after them. If there are ten children outside, they will appoint ten people as guides. There is no other way. It is not about educating children. Don't waste time with such things; people already educate their kids. They warn them. But yet such things do happen. A child cannot protect himself.

CHP General Vice President Sezgin Tanrıkulu, gave a parliamentary question for Aysenur Islam to answer. He asked:

"When you held a press meeting about the increasing number of “missing children” cases in recent days, you said, “I can teach mothers a very simple thing. They need to teach their children to scream. Are 6,000  children who have gone missing in the last 20 years still missing because they did not scream for help? How will 4 or5 year-old children realize that they are in danger and scream for help?”
