(About the news that every 80 minutes an American soldier who returns home after serving in Iraq or Afghanistan suffers depression and tries to commit suicide, and about a video tape showing American troops in Afghanistan amusing themselves by mistreating a sheep)

These people are crazy. People like that can do anything. They can kill themselves or other people. Classic crazies. That is what comes of a Darwinist, materialist education. These idiots will cause America terrible problems. America must first of all renounce Darwinist, materialist education and adopt a form of education that teaches the existence of Allah. It must teach the dead-end nature of materialism and the falsity of Darwinism. If it does not do that, such tragedies will come one after the other. Someone who does not believe in Allah or the hereafter, who does not love Allah, will feel himself to be totally without responsibility. And then they turn out to be sadists like that. Materialist thinking does not regard human beings as human at all. It regards them as things, objects. So they have no love, and are cruel.

(About the usefulness of Mr. Adnan Oktar’s activities aimed at eliminating the tension between Israel and Iran – Shimon Peres recently made a statement saying that time was running out for Iran. But now he has issued a different statement, saying he is opposed to a military intervention against Iran, recommending economic and political sanctions instead, and using the words “I do not advise an immediate military  operation to prevent Iran building a nuclear bomb.”)

A military operation would be totally wrong, not a humane action. It would be highly illogical. An action aimed at bringing them to heel would be quite irrational. What does Iran care about an economic embargo and things like that? The thing to do is show them love, peace and brotherhood. The countries of the region must watch over and protect one another. We all believe in the same Allah. We believe in the one Allah. We must improve democracy, human rights, freedom of thought, mutual respect and love of art and science in the region, and thus eradicate that tension. What is the first thing needing to be done? To eliminate Darwinism and materialism. Materialism is ruining the region, ruining Israel. Fanaticism, bigotry and radicalism cause the same damage. We must break these twin horns of the dajjal [antichrist]. Education is needed to eliminate extremist thinking. And education comes from being allies, coming together and talking. The other way, you get a different extremism developing in every country. There is one extremism in Iran and a different one in Israel. And the extremists then take that opportunity to kill one another. Yet if extremism is eliminated, there will be no more problem, insha’Allah.

(In answer to the question, “Why will Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) not be married?”)

How do I know? Bediüzzaman Said Nursi never married, as you know. Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) was not married. He never married for his 30 years. Insha’Allah. Hazrat Maryam (pbuh) was not married. I mean, he could marry; it is all a matter of a person’s will. Animals have no free will. But human beings do. They use their intelligence. They act in line with the Qur’an. Physical desires are easy. It is not as hard to control them as people think. My apologies, but foolish people rather exaggerate it. What are earthly passions? Someone shoots someone else. ”I followed my desires,” he says. He has actually gone along with satan. Someone commits and armed robbery and says, “Satan tempted me.” He just followed his earthly desires. Those desires go hand in hand with satan. Insha’Allah. The hadith says that “Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will have no children.” It does not say he will not marry. Just that he will have no children. It says he will have no children and no descendants. That is what we are told. One account says, “All the imams will have a child to continue their line.” “But the last spiritual teacher, Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will have no children,” he says. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will have no children. That is a precaution of Allah’s, because the Day of Reckoning is imminent. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) not being married and not having children are separate matters. That is what I gather from that. I understand it to mean he will not be married, insha’Allah.

From the hadiths of our Prophet (pbuh):

“Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will go to Jerusalem,” he says in a hadith. That is in destiny.  “He will maintain his struggle until people return to the truth.”(Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi `Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar, p.23) He says he will constantly preach the word. What is the truth? Allah. “A caliph will appear from my Ummah in the End Times (a spiritual leader of Muslims), and he will distribute many goods without even counting them.” (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi `Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar, p. 23) No writing it all down in ledgers, but giving it away by the handful, masha’Allah.

People who act out of logic sink themselves. People who act out of logic become polluted and dark. But people who act out of conscience are highly attractive. Logic looks like it will bestow some kind of advantage on people, as if it will be very accurate. Logic pollutes people. It darkens them and drags them down. But conscience makes them fertile and lovely. It always looks as if people will lose out when they act from conscience. But in fact, they always win in the end, insha’Allah. But one has to be patient, of course. Patience is very important, and a characteristic of Muslims. You cannot have good conscience if you have no patience. Patience and good conscience go hand in hand.
