The environment of peace in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as) as related in the hadith

Hazrat Mahdi (as) is a man of affection:

Hazrat Mahdi (as) will bring all men of faiths and thoughts together with love, strenghten feelings of friendship. He will ensure that people see one another’s virtues and approach other people with understanding. When Hazrat Mahdi (as) appears love will dominate the Earth, and people will leave their feelings of rage and hatred behind. Indeed, it is related in the hadith literature that everyone—from the fish in the sea to the birds in the heavens—will be pleased with the environment of beauty and love ensured by the Hazrat Mahdi (as) and that love for Hazrat Mahdi  (as) will be placed in the hearts of all humanity. The candid, sincere love people will feel for Hazrat Mahdi (as) will also make them approach one another with love, compassion and affection. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will talk about love and peace and meanwhile will experience it in the most powerful manner deep in his heart and will also make other people feel it.

Hazrat Mahdi (as) will shed not a single drop of blood and will not wake a sleeping person:

Hazrat Mahdi (as) is a man of peace who evades war. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will make the morality of the Qur’an dominate the Earth not by war but by love and the remembrance of Allah. That Hazrat Mahdi (as) will dominate the world by means of peace and love, which is one of his attributes, is related in the hadith as follows:
People will seek refuge in the Hazrat Mahdi (as) as honey bees cluster around their sovereign. He will fill the world that was once full of cruelty with justice. His justice will be as such that HE WILL NOT WAKE A SLEEPING PERSON OR EVEN SHED ONE DROP OF BLOOD. The Earth will return to the age of happiness. 1

[Hazrat Mahdi (as)] will follow the way of the Prophet. HE WILL NOT WAKE UP A SLEEPING PERSON OR SHED BLOOD.... 2

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL BE SO COMPASSIONATE THAT no one will be woken up from their sleep or have a bleeding nose. 3

Those obeying him (Hazrat Mahdi (as)) will pay homage to him between ruqun and makam (around Qaba). THEY WILL NOT WAKE A SLEEPING PERSON, NEVER SHED BLOOD. 4

From this respect our Prophet (saas) also related that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will carry out an ideological struggle to put an end to strife, wars and conflicts. Our Prophet (saas) also related that during the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as) all weapons will be silent, that wars will come to an end and justice, peace and love will prevail the Earth following the apperance of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and the descend of Jesus (as):

The soldiers put down their weighs [their weapons, etc.].5

The warriors will abandon their weight [weapons and kits].6

Mutual enmity and hatred will disappear. THE EARTH WILL BE FILLED WITH PEACE AS A CONTAINER IS FILLED WITH WATER. People will be in complete agreement, and only Allah will be worshipped. Wars will cease…7

Like the cup fills with water, so will Earth fill with peace. There will be no enmity left between any people. All hostility, fighting, and envy will disappear. 8

As the phrase “The soldiers put down their weighs" indicates, during this period, all sorts of violence, strife and disorder will come to end.

Consequently, Mahdism is a compassionate, gracious and rational system based on human love. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will spread justice all over the world yet “shed not a single drop of blood.” The time of the Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be a time of true love, peace and bliss.

Hazrat Mahdi (as) Will Put an End to Violece and Terror:

Our Prophet (saas) related that after Hazrat Mahdi (as) makes the morality of Islam dominate the Earth, disorder, conflicts, violence, wars and injustice will come to an end. Our Prophet (saas) heralded the great changes that will be experienced in the world with Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) appearance thus:
The world filled with oppression and tyranny WILL OVERFLOW WITH JUSTICE AFTER HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) COMES. 9

In the Qur’an Allah also calls people to peace as follows:

Allah calls to the Abode of Peace and He guides whom He wills to a straight path.... (Surah Yunus, 25)

As a requisite of the morality of the Qur’an Hazrat Mahdi (as) will also call people to be peace and make peace among people. As the hadith relate, during the period of Hazrat Mahdi (as) no enmity and malice will remain and the violence and terror will come to an end. Some of the related hadith are as follows:

Mutual enmity and hatred will disappear. Every harmful animal will be made harmless, so that a small boy will be able to put his hand into a snake's mouth without being harmed, a small girl will be able to make a lion run away from her, and a wolf will go among sheep as if he were a sheepdog. THE EARTH WILL BE FILLED WITH PEACE AS A CONTAINER IS FILLED WITH WATER. People will be in complete agreement, and only Allah will be worshipped. WARS WILL CEASE…10

[In the age of Hazrat Mahdi (as)] The sheep will graze with the wolf” and “children will play with snakes and scorpions but will come to no harm.”...11

As the hadith informs during the period of Hazrat Mahdi (as) people feeling enmity towards one another will experience a great brotherhood, peace, friendship and love will replace all sorts of fights. The moderate, contemporary, rational and civilized model of Islam that will be experienced during this blessed person will illuminate all the world.

Hazrat Mahdi (as) will rule among Christians with the original Gospel and among Jews with the Torah:

Hazrat Mahdi (as) will convey the moral perfection of the Qur’an to people and treat Muslims with the morality of the Qur’an. However, he will rule among Christians with the original Gospel, that is the part of it that has not been corrupted. He will also rule among the Jews with the original Torah. Consequently, Hazrat Mahdi (as) will in no way compel Christians and Jews to convert to Islam; he will treat them with the parts of Gospel and Torah which are in compliance with the Qur’an. This is related in one hadith of our Prophet (saas) as follows:

"HZ. MAHDİ (AS)… will RULE AMONG JEWS WITH THE TORAH AND AMONG CHRISTIANS WITH THE GOSPEL.." 12

As a miracle of Allah Hazrat Mahdi (as) the originals of the Gospel and Torah will also be found. Our Prophet (saas) informs us that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will find the uncorrupted forms of these righteous Books in the End Times thus:

... The reason why Hazrat Mahdi (as) is known as Hazrat Mahdi (as) is this; he will be directed toward a secret matter, will extract the Torah and other Divine books from a cave in Antioch...13

It is certain that Hazrat Mahdi (as) is known as the ‘Mahdi.’ (as)  Because he will be directed to salvation to one of the mountains of Sham, from where he will extract the books (volumes) of the “torah” and will enter into debate with the jews on the basis of these and (eventually) a group of jews will become muslims by his hand. 14

Hazrat Mahdi (as) will Have an Unprecedented Concept of Justice:

Violence and cruelty have pervaded all over the world. Only a minority have remained out of this affliction. Never before has the world experienced such an attack of impiety, which is supported with the so-called science and technology in such an intense, organized and crowded manner. Of all the world history, we live in a time when impiety is most intensively experienced. Allah creates everything with its counterpart. Allah has also created the strongest counterpart of impiety. By the will of Allah, together with Jesus (as), Hazrat Mahdi (as) will put out this fire of impiety in this century.

According to the hadith of our Prophet (saas) abundance of all products, establishment of security, peace, justice and bliss, the use of all means for the comfort, peace and happiness of humanity and distribution of countless goods to people will be among the most important portents of the period of Hazrat Mahdi (as). This environment of justice and peace to which Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be a means will be very wide-ranging and unique. Some of the related hadith are as follows:

If there were only one day left for the world, that day would be lengthened until a man from among the people of my household, was sent; just as the Earth is filled with cruelty, He will fill THE EARTH with justice. 15

One (the Hazrat Mahdi (as)) from my Ahl al-Bayt will emerge. HE WILL FILL THE EARTH WITH JUSTICE, JUST AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY FILLED WITH OPPRESSION AND ENMITY. 16

This (Amr) (Hazrat Mahdi (as)) WILL FILL EARTH WITH JUSTICE, just as people previously filled it with cruelty 17

THE WORLD filled with oppression and tyranny WILL OVERFLOW WITH JUSTICE AFTER HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) COMES. 18

IN THE TIME OF THE HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) JUSTICE WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN SUCH A WAY THAT, every commodity taken away by force will be returned to its owner.

THERE WILL BE SUCH AN ABUNDANCE OF JUSTICE IN THE HAZRAT MAHDI'S (AS) TIME that just as all the goods taken away by force will be returned to their owners.19

HIS (THE MAHDI'S (AS)) JUSTICE WILL COVER ALL PLACES and he will rule among people with the Sunna of the Prophet (saas). He will even also call for one who is in need to be brought forward, and when that command is obeyed only one person will come.20

314 people, including women, will swear allegiance to the Hazrat Mahdi (as), and all tyrants will be overthrown before him. HIS TIME WILL BE SO JUST THAT THE DEAD IN THE TOMB WILL ENVY THE LIVING... 21

People will seek refuge in the Hazrat Mahdi (as) as honey bees cluster around their sovereign. HE WILL FILL THE WORLD THAT WAS ONCE FULL OF CRUELTY, JUSTICE. HIS JUSTICE WILL BE AS SUCH THAT HE WILL NOT WAKE A SLEEPING PERSON OR EVEN SHED ONE DROP OF BLOOD. THE EARTH WILL RETURN TO THE AGE OF HAPPINESS. 22

If just one day of the life of this world remains, Almighty Allah will prolong it and someone from my Ahl al-Bayt will come. His name will be like mine. His father's name will be like my father's name. HE WILL FILL THE WORLD THAT IS FULL OF OPPRESSION AND EVILS WITH JUSTICE AND MERCY. 23

Hear the glad tidings of the Hazrat Mahdi (as). He is one from the Quraysh and from my Ahl al-Bayt. He will appear at a time when people are in disputes and social upheaval. HE (THE HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE AND COMPASSION, WHEN BEFORE HIM IT WAS FILLED WITH CRUELTY AND OPPRESSION. 24

HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) OWNS THE EARTH AND FILLS THE EARTH WITH JUSTICE WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY FILLED WITH OPPRESSION AND VIOLENCE. Whoever of you lives to see him, let him crawl over snow to him and join him. Because he is the Hazrat Mahdi (as).” 25

Once the earth is full of cruelty and enmity, one (the Hazrat Mahdi (as)) from my Ahl al-Bayt will emerge. HE WILL FILL THE EARTH WITH JUSTICE, JUST AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY FILLED WITH OPPRESSION AND ENMITY.26

After me...WILL COME ONE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT, AND HE WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE.27

Doomsday will not take place until the world is filled with cruelty and enmity. THEN ONE FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT AND MY LINE WILL COME AND FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE AND HONESTY.28

If only one day of this world remains, Allah will lengthen that day, till A PERSON FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT COMES. His name matches mine and his father's name matches my father's. HE will fill the earth with JUSTICE and HONESTY as it had been filled with oppression and tyranny. 29

There is no doubt that the Earth will be filled with injustice and oppression. When it is filled with oppression and cruelty, ALLAH WILL SEND ONE FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT WHOSE NAME IS MINE AND WHOSE FATHER'S NAME IS MY FATHER'S, AND HE WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE AND EQUITY in the same way that it was previously filled with injustice and sorrow. 30

Even if only one day were left to the world, Almighty Allah WOULD PROLONG THAT DAY IN ORDER TO SEND ONE FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT WHOSE NAME MATCHES MY FATHER'S NAME TO FILL THE EARTH WITH TRUTH AND JUSTICE where it was previously filled with oppression and injustice. 31

It is narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Even if nothing but a day were left to the world, ALLAH WOULD DEFINITELY SEND SOMEONE FROM MY AHL AL-BAYT TO FILL IT WITH JUSTICE where it was previously filled with tyranny." 32

O Abbas, Allah began this matter with me. He will end it with one of your line. THAT YOUNG MAN (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) WILL AGAIN FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE THAT WAS FORMERLY FILLED WITH TYRANNY... 33

THE WORLD WILL BE FILLED WITH JUSTICE INSTEAD OF OPPRESSION AND TORTURE. HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) WILL DISTRIBUTE ALL THINGS WITH EQUAL MEASURES OF TRUTH AND JUSTICE. Thus in the same way that the inhabitants of the Earth and sky be pleased with him, so the birds in the air, savage animals in the forests and even fish in the sea will be delighted with him.34

…From Abu Hamza Somali: One day I sat beside Imam Muhammad Baqr. After those around him had dispersed, he turned to me and said: "O Abu Hamza! One of the laws that will never change is the coming of the Mahdi... HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WHO WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE AND EQUALITY AFTER IT WAS FILLED WITH OPPRESSION AND CRUELTY... 35

From Abd-I Hayr:
I heard Ali ibn Abi Talib say: "The Messenger of Allah (saas) told me: "His (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) name is my name. HE WILL APPEAR WHEN THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH CRUELTY AND OPPRESSION AND FILL IT WITH JUSTICE AND EQUALITY."36

Ali ibn Omar, grandson of Imam Zayn ul-Abidin, says: Imam Abu Abdullah, Jaffer as-Sadiq says: "THE QAIM (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)), WHO IS ONE OF MY CHILDREN...WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE AND EQUALITY THAT IS NOW FILLED WITH OPPRESSION AND CRUELTY." 37

From Ishaq ibn Galib: Imam Jaffer as-Sadiq said this in his sermon about the nature and qualities of the Hazrat Mahdi (as): "HE WILL APPLY JUSTICE WITH BROAD RADIANCE AND WIDE RESTORATION, WITH A CLEAR, TRUE AND APPARENT DECLARATION." 38

Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari says: "AND IN THE SAME WAY THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH OPPRESSION, INJUSTICE AND EVIL, HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL FILL IT WITH JUSTICE, EQUALITY AND LIGHT." 39

From Ibn Abu Hamza:
"HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) HAS BEEN GIFTED WITH THE QUALITIES OF JUSTICE, COMPASSION AND GOODNESS." 40

Hisham ibn Salih said: Imam Jaffer as-Sadiq said:
"All classes of people will rule the people until the coming of the Hazrat Mahdi (as). So that nobody will be able to say, 'If we ruled we would implement justice'. THEN THE QAIM (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) WILL APPEAR WITH TRUTH AND JUSTICE."41

Fazl ibn Yessar states; I heard Imam Jafferi as-Sadiq say: "I SWEAR TO ALLAH THAT IN THE SAME WAY HEAT AND COLD FILL THEIR HOMES, SO THE JUSTICE OF THE HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL FILL THEIR HOMES." 42

THE Mahdi will be from my Ahl al-Bayt and will be from my line. HE (HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)) WILL FILL THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE.43

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL COME AS A JUST JUDGE...44

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) JUSTICE WILL BE SO GREAT THAT NO INJUSTICE WILL BE DONE TO ANYONE, IN ANY MATTER, IN ANY WAY. 45

In Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) legal judgments and pronouncements, in Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) government, NOT THE SLIGHTEST OPPRESSION OR INJUSTICE WILL BE INFLICTED ON ANYONE, AND NOBODY WILL BE WRONGED.46

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL LEAVE THE SCALES AND BALANCES OF JUSTICE AMONG THE PEOPLE AND THUS NOBODY WILL BE ABLE TO opress ANYONE ELSE. 47

When Hazrat Mahdi (as) appears – after various troubles and wars – HE WILL ERADICATE OPPRESSION AND INJUSTICE AND FILL THE WHOLE WORLD WITH JUSTICE.48

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL HOLD NOBODY SUPERIOR TO ANYBODY ELSE. 49

Abu Said al-Khudri narrates that the Prophet (saas) said from the pulpit:  “The promised Hazrat MAHDI (as) from the Ahl al-Bayt WILL APPEAR IN THE END TIMES. The sky will pour its rain on him and the earth with give up its plants. AFTER PEOPLE HAVE FILLED THE WORLD WITH OPPRESSION, HE WILL FILL IT WITH JUSTICE.”50

HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) IS THE SUN WHO WILL DO AWAY WITH ALL TROUBLES AND OPPRESSION. When he bestows goodness he is fertile rain. 51
