Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Interview at Kocaeli TV on April 30th, 2010
PRESENTER :"What is luck in your opinion? I find myself very unfortunate. All my life, I have lived in poverty. No matter how much I worked in Turkey, I couldn't achieve anything. I came to Germany and I'm living the same life. Whatever job I took, my monetary situation never changed. No matter how much I endeavored, I couldn't achieve anything further. What does this mean, in your opinion? May Allah keep you with us and give you a long life. With my deepest respects."
ADNAN OKTAR:He will not use the word unfortunate but he will say, "Allah did not grant me riches. He did not grant me some means, or plenty of food." He will say whatever it is that's not granted. Now, go to slum areas, go to villages, you will see that people's cheeks are all red. They very rarely eat meat, get very low cholesterol and they are quite healthy, and are very joyful. Eating plenty of food like butter, meat, broiled food day and night, this would not actually be a blessing; it's not like what is thought. On the contrary, the person gets poisoned from that. Eating little portions is also a blessing. For instance, when food on a big plate is brought to us, if we share that plate right from the middle with our loved one, then we would have done the best thing for both of us. We would ensure that s/he gets the best protein and food. We would also prevent ourselves getting poisonous proteins. And we would have acted to the point. Poorness brings gaiety to people most of the time. For example, a small house but a life full of faith and love is better. For example, you are very rich, you have a big mansion but you are all alone; the man would go crazy. There are people who hang themselves at their home. People in Europe use drugs as they get depressed over abundance and richness. It's not like what's thought. There is no such thing that abundance will always bring happiness. But for a faithful person richness is of course a blessing. Therefore, if Allah willed poorness for us, then there is good in that as well. If He willed richness, there is a good in that also. We thank Allah for that.
In the first years when I began preaching, our house was in Ortakoy. Both of my trousers had big patches and I glued them together. Nothing happened and I was so happy. My friends in those times know me, those in the Academy. I was quite joyful. Thanks to Allah, I'm also very well now, I am quite comfortable. But I have the same joy; that's the joy of my faith. That wouldn't change anything extra in me. There is no difference in between a patched trouser and a Versace one for me. But if I dress well, the reason for that is this; it is to emphasize the glory of Islam and to show the strength of Muslims. People have a Muslim image of someone who is a wretch, loser, poor, tasteless, doesn't know how to dress up or to have fun or doesn't know about good appetite, beauty and aesthetics. This is not something to be rejected; that's the truth. I destroyed this system by having the most beautiful of everything by Allah's leave. Using the best of everything, the most aesthetic and perfect of everything, this has been my method the whole time. And this disturbed some of the unbelievers greatly and gave them an immense pain. That's the reason of this rage. Allah says, "Take their means that will disturb them with hatred and pain, from them." So He says to conquer them and take their places for you. And Allah says, "They will feel pain and anger." I'm just citing the explanation of the verse; there is a verse, Qur'anic verse to that effect. "Your success and strength offends and hurts them" Allah says. This is a method. It gets them down. For example, look I'm 54 years old and am healthy and strong with Allah's help. For example my health also hurts some people greatly. For example, I'm very strong and my strength gives them pain. Thanks to Allah, I'm rich and this hurts them as well. I dress very nicely and this hurts them as well. I'm joyful and this hurts them as well. We have enormous power in terms of knowledge and culture. I mean we have a devastating power, and this hurts them even more, in a deadly way. It gives them to most severe pain. We have the best car, the best house. The people around me are the most beautiful people of the world. All my friends are strikingly handsome and beautiful. My girlfriends are also extra-ordinarily beautiful. Everyone knows that. The men are also the most handsome men of the world. Masha'Allah. And I aim for the most beautiful morality as well. They are modest, compliant, helpful, compassionate, merciful, humane, understanding, deep, self-sacrificing, meaning if we have the means, it is to be able to offer these means to others as well. But offering means in a devastating way would not be acceptable. For example, I would not say to someone "come and let me buy you a field so that you can farm wheat and earn revenue there", instead of distributing the Atlas of Creation to Europe. People's Hereafter is important to me. Because a book can save the Hereafter of a person by Allah's leave. No one dies of hunger but a person who dies faithless is ruined. That is why I aim for their faith..
