If irreligion pervades the world, that does not mean that Hazrat Mahdi (as) has not appeared. If Imam Rabbani were here in our time … when all the portents of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) have taken place. But Muslims have been left leaderless. If, under such circumstances, Imam Rabbani were to be asked; there have been Lunar and Solar eclipses 15 days apart, the Iran-Iraq War took place, Muslims are being persecuted and all the other portents, great and small, have come about, so in your opinion, has Hazrat Mahdi (as) appeared? What would he say? He would say that he has appeared. Imam Rabbani is a great admirer of our Prophet (saas). Imam Rabbani would have said that in tears of joy, if he were here.

A corruption will appear such that nowhere will be free of it, and that corruption will immediately spread from one place to another, and this will continue until a herald from the sky calls out, “O People! Your leader is now the Mahdi.” (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi `Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar, p. 23)

There will be constant uprisings and developments in the Islamic world. The hadith says that a herald will call out from the sky. He will call out from the sky. In other words, there will be radio and television waves in the sky. Sound waves pervade the whole sky when a herald, someone, calls out. The sky over the whole world. The reference to the sky does not mean any specific piece of sky, because our Prophet (saas) does not say that this will be in a particular region or location. In other words, sound waves that cover the whole world. A person will speak over the radio, the television and the internet. Where is radio aired from? From the sky. And television? From the sky. It refers to a call made by a human being. It does not refer to an angel.

A herald calls out. When an angel is involved, our Prophet (saas) refers to an angel. But the herald calling out here is a human being. What does it say in the hadith? It says calling out from the sky. From radio, television,.. as it emits in the sky. For instance, we talk in here, it is translated into French and English. Sheikh Ahmed Yasin talks, it is translated into many sounds. It emits everywhere. When there is the news that Hazrat Mahdi (as) has appeared, we call this out from here.

We describe this as herald. What is Sheikh Nazım Hodja? He is a herald. He sets things out. His words are disseminated from the sky, by radio and television, in several foreign languages. Each society hears it in its own language. It is translated instantaneously.

“Hazrat Mahdi (as) will appear with an angel above his head, crying out, “This is the Mahdi, obey him.”

This is an invisible angel. Tens of thousands of angels will assist Hazrat Mahdi (as). But there needs to be one angel calling to the angels. There needs to be an angel telling them of the existence of Hazrat Mahdi (as). That angel informs the other angels. And they obey him. Tens of thousands of angels will come under Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) command. Our Prophet (saas) sets that out in the hadith. But angels also have a leader. There is one who governs the angels. The angel who commands them will be above Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) head and will issue warnings and reminders to the other angels.

The presence of Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be a great blessing for people. It will also be a blessing for America, and Russia and China. He is a blessing for all Islamic countries. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will not interfere in any country’s politics or policies. He will merely become involved in love and affection and friendship. He is a teacher of those. And he will teach people love, passion, brotherhood and mutual aid.

Knowledge from the Mind of Allah appears in Surat al-Kahf. It is what is described in the story of Hazrat Khidr (as). Almighty Allah speaks of a servant on whom He has mercy and whom He teaches knowledge from His presence. The Prophet Moses (as) follows Hazrat Khidr (as). But Hazrat Mahdi (as) says he will not have the fortitude to accompany him. Special knowledge. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will also amaze people. The followers of Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be very few in number because he will apply knowledge from the Presence of Allah. This is one of his aspects. Almighty Allah says that human beings cannot withstand knowledge from His Presence. The Prophet Moses (as) could not bear it. Although he is a great prophet, he leaves him at the third event. The reason why Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) followers will be so few in number is that only people who can bear secret knowledge from Allah will be with him. That is the reason for the 313 people. Those who cannot bear secret knowledge from Allah will depart. There could otherwise be no other explanation for such a great individual having only 313 followers. Even the smallest community has more than 313 members.

This means that he will apply secret knowledge from Allah on a broad basis and people will be amazed by it and therefore oppose him. The Prophet Moses (as) was a very well-bred man and was warned beforehand, but look what he said; for instance, when the boat was holed, he asked if Hazrat Khidr (as) did that to drown the people in it. That is a grave criticism. So how could an ordinary man be one of Hazrat Khidr’s (as) followers? He could not. Everything Hazrat Mahdi (as) does is marvelous. Just about everything that Hazrat Khidr (as) does is also marvelous. That is why it is hard to be a follower of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and it is also hard to be a follower of Hazrat Khidr (as). People who study the Qur’an can realize that. And people who study the hadiths. Look, even the most ignorant people or perverse views have thousands of supporters. Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the greatest guide there has ever been, someone whom all the prophets have foretold. He is revealed as the caliph of Allah. The Prophet Jesus (as) will follow and obey him. He moves forward along the path of prophethood; He is an innocent person assisted by the angels Jebrail, Mikhail, Israfil and the great angels and thousands of other angels will assist him; by Allah’s leave and creation, he will be a master of secret knowledge, knowledge from the Presence of Allah. He has 313 followers, and then he is cast into prison. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be made to suffer and will be exposed to the most extreme slanders and persecuted in a worse way than anyone else. And some of 313 people will turn out to be hypocrites and disloyal.People will come and go, but that number will generally remain the same.
